    Aloe Vera gel for acne

My step mom bought me some while I was out in Calgary cuz I got a pretty bad sunburn on my face from working in the fields with my dad (though it was FUN!). And after using it for about 3 days I noticed my acne clearing up. I use it mainly after a shower once every other day. But since I've gotten sick, I haven't kept up with it and my face has broken out again and it's pretty bad.

I want to up my usage to every day, once in the morning and once at night. Basically every time I wash my face but my question is: Will it hurt my skin if I use to much?

I've battled bad acne since high school. I've tried everything from Aloe Vera creams to Proactive..... Nothing really helped because my acne was hormonal.

Then a year ago I found this http://www.vitacost.com/TwinlabEmulsifiedOmega3FishOil?csrc=NTDC-027434012294

I'm telling you it's amazing!  Just after 2 days of taking this stuff my acne was gone.   I take 2 Tbsp a day and have clear skin without any acne creams.   It's just fish oil emulsified in Lecithin to make it more digestible. It's mint or orange flavored.....  I like the orange better.

You could probably find it at your local health store if you look around. It's definitely more effective than Aloe Vera or any other acne topical.

I'll have to look out for that. I've got combo skin. So my forehead is oily and my cheeks are dry. Lol.  I can't use floride in my toothpaste or I'll break out even worse.

I've got a health food store around the corner from me so I'll take a look tomorrow.  Smile

My grandma's sure fire way to get rid of acne was toothpaste on a band-aid over night. I tried it and wouldn't ya know, it worked! Dried up over night but it was only for spot treatment. Since I've been sick, my chin and cheeks have broken out pretty bad.

To answer your question, no it won't hurt at all to use it frequently -- aloe vera is a good anti-inflammatory ... good soother as well

Ah! Good. So I'll continue using it until I can find the other stuff. Thanks Callie!

It depends on what causes the acne.  Aloe helps some people and not others.  But it won't hurt your skin!

I've had the aloe gel and it's almost PURE aloe, from the centre of the aloe vera leaf.  It's good for topical use virtually head tot toe, and is mild enough for me to use on my kiddo.  It's a natural product and it's got a lot of good stuff in it Smile

Now I have a new idea to try on the teenaged Chinese Crested. Thanks! Wink

I've been using Bentonite clay as a spot treatment, on her, and it's working wonderfully. I ignore my sunburned, broken out skin and  tend to her never burned, teenaged skin twice a day. Dog. Nerd.
