Things fall in to place! (A good thing)

I've been speaking to many trainers on the coast trying to find the one for me when I get Shippo next year. After explaining my plans to the local agility trainer, it seems that they're in the process of adding Rally O to their teaching lessons. As well as adding Canine Good Neighbor (Canadian verison of CGC) So by the time I'm ready to start training, I'll be able to take everything under one trainer!

I'm calling tomorrow to find out a time I can come down and speak to them in person. There's 3 trainers, speciallizing in each section and the classes are small so there's more one on one time.

This is great! I never expected everything to come together so fast!

Alex said that I've given up on Maze doing agility. And I have. I know she's not a sports dog and thats fine. She also has issues towards large dogs which will take a bit to work out. She has gotten better but I don't think she'll ever be trustworthy enough to run off leash on a course. But that's fine by me! She's still my little girl and my cuddle buddy. But sometimes I stop and wonder if I am some how letting her down because we can't do this stuff...Then again, we do go for long walks (just us) and we do training sessions still (just random tricks) and we spend lots of quality time together and that isn't gonna change when I add a second dog..

I dunno but I am glad that I've found a trainer who's willing to help me get to the level I want to be at.

    That's great!!

I don't think you're letting Maze down at all. As long as you still have your quality time it won't matter if you're not doing agility with her.

I don't think you're letting Maze down.  You've realized that sports isn't her thing.  So not making her do something that she's not really into, isn't letting her down.  And since you're still going to be getting plently of quality time w/ her, I think you're good.

I really don't think she'd see it like that. When I was thinking about doing aglilty with Casey - I was excited, I thought it woudld be fun. However, when we were just having a play group at the shelter, I thought we'd try out the yard with the agility equipment. Casey was visably afraid of it. I thought we could desensitize him to it - but why put him through that? There are plenty of things we can do together that don't involve him having to get over his fears. Yea - I'd love to see him channel his energy into tunnels and jumps - but at what cost?

He's happy taking hikes with me, exploring the nature walks, going to the beach (NOT in the water.....) and of course - his favorite place - the dog park.

Ah good! I guess it's just my fears. I'm gonna find new trails to hike on once I start training with the pup so Maze can experience new things as well. Smile
