We have so many fire ants here in Texas, if their utter absence were a prerequisite of any sporting actitivy...we'd NEVER have any sports activities LOL. My kids have grown up respecting the fire ant and knowing the telltale markers of doom...lol. I think this article is funny...they'll learn...you treat once a season...BEFORE you want to use the field...haha... • Liesje Posted : 9/25/2008 5:59:01 PM LOL.  I stood in fire ants this summer.  I work on a college campus and by the Science Building there is a patch of native flowers where I like to photograph bugs.  Since they got all over my sandals I figured out when they like to move around.
