New Addition! Squee!

    New Addition! Squee!

For some time now, I've been wanting to add another dog to the pack. With Chase getting older and Quinn being a bouncy baby boy, I thought it'd be great for a playmate. I have always wanted a smaller female dog... and that's what I got! I had originally been looking for a middle aged girl, like 3-7 years old. But when I found this cutie, whom is only a year old, I just had to have her! I adopted a 15 lb, 1 year old female Rat Terrier from a cute little rescue. She was originally an owner surrender.

Sooo, introducing my new baby gir, Holly (I'm changing her name though)l:

These are all pics I took of her at her foster mom's place with her foster brothers and sisters.

    Being a pretty girl.

    Holly & Pepper

    Holly & Mags

    Cuteee.

    Sweet girl.

So far, all is good. She seems pretty comfortable with me and was sitting with me on the couch. Chase and Quinn haven't met her yet, so I'm crossing my fingers that goes well. I've been keeping them in separate rooms or out in the yard for now. Tomorrow I'm going to let them meet. She loves other dogs and my two love everyone, so I think it should go well.

Now, I just need name ideas! I'm not really huge on Holly, to be honest. Quinn came with his name and I named Chase. For this little girl, I want something a bit exotic and different, but not totally out of this world. Any suggestions people? =]

What a Cutie!!! I love the mix of black and tan with all the freckles! We went 'round and 'round with names for two weeks when we first got our girl.  She must have thought her name was puppy! Some how Moxie just came to me. Some of the names I liked but didn't fit or pass with the SO were-

Hannah (which I've always loved, but now the name is everywhere due to Miss Montana)

Milla (my #1 pic at first)

     Falon

     Heidi

Isis ( I think that kind of fits your girl)

3 different people told us our girl looked like a Roxie (that's prob how Moxie popped into my head)

    Morgan (my boss's dog's name)

I looked at tons of baby name and dog name sites, also meanings of Irish, Greek, Egyptian names... it'll just come to you!  Good luck!

Isis ( I think that kind of fits your girl)

I kind of agree on Isis.  What a beautiful girl she is!  I love her markings.

    Thanks guys!

Ooh, those are cute names! I think Heidi or Morgan kind of suits her. I also have taken a liking to the name Jada. It's going to be so difficult naming her! hehe

    Oooh, I like Jada!

    • Gold Top Dog

I'd stick with at least a similar sound to the name.

Hana (flower in Japanese not said like HANNAH but Hah-Nah)

    Heidl (pronounced Hide-LL)

    Honey

    Hermione

    O M G!  She's adorable!  How about Sally??

    • Gold Top Dog

She's precious!! I like the names Jolie and Etta, and also Ellie.

She is so cute, we rescued a Rat Terrier years ago, dont know how old she was then but she was with us about 12 years we think she was around 3 or 4 when we got her.   Your new baby girl has the same sweet face,  although Lady was just Black and Tan.   I love the spots Smile  How about Dolly, hehe, how well does she respond to her current name?   I am thinking something similiar might not be as confusing for her.  Heidi also has a similiar sound.

Her training is not 100%, I don't think her previous owners really did anything with her. She does okay with her name, but she doesn't always listen anyway. So, I'm not really that concerned with changing her name. It's just so difficult settling on one. I like the Etta idea, only with a J- Jetta.

This morning I introduced the boys to her. She was in the backyard and I let them touch noses, sniff, etc through the chain link. Holly was a bit cautious at first (I think she's used to smaller dog friends), but she QUICKLY warmed up and was ready to play. Chase's tail was wagging and I think he was very curious about her. Quinn, being is happy-go-lucky self, had is butt in the air with a huge grin on his face, ready for a game of tag! I didn't let them actually interact on one side of the fence yet, I'll probably let them get to know each on leashes without a fence between them later on today. So far it looks like they'll be great pals, though. Smile

*Update* I have decided to name her Jada. I think it's a cute, unique and short name, plus she totally is a gem! =]

Also, Chase and Quinn got to play with Jada for the first time today. They definitely had a blast, especially Quinn and Jada. They're all pooped now, which is nice for once! Jada is still getting used to everyone, I think she's still abit confused and settling in, but I think having some doggie pals is helping her out. I stayed home from work today to keep an eye on her. So far, she only had one accident, but that's to be expected coming into a new home. She slept in her crate last and whimpered for about five minutes, then quickly quieted down. According to her foster mom, she is used to and prefers to sleep on the bed with her people. Sorry, but that's not going to happen. Quinn sleeps in a crate and Chase sleeps on the floor on a doggie bed in the bathroom, so it definately wouldn't be fair to let Jada sleep with me. I just hope everyone gets along while I'm at work tomorrow and she doesn't have any accidents. I'm just so excited to have her, I don't want to go to work tomorrow! hehe
