    What a night!!!(Kle1986)

I went to class tonight. Took Lillie and Joker.

I didnt go last week. Well when I walked in my trainer asked me where I was last week. Told her why I didnt show up. She said well we had 3 Irish Setters last week. I almost died. WHY??? Why did I have to miss the class that would have benifited me the most? No worries the people showed up tonight!!!

They just moved here from California. They had 2 six month old pups and a 2 year old full show coat beautiful male. Let me tell you I was in heavan. And boy was Lillie over the moon too. She actually wasnt afraid of them and seemed to know they were one of her. It was a mom and daughter team. The daughter was the handler around 15-16 years old. The mom said she loved Lillie's head.

They both looked her over and pointed out stuff to me. Great head,a little straight in the chest,a little tall, great shoulders, great bite, tail a little high. But they said she was still showable.Just gotta get her stack right. They said her gait was perfect.  Oh yeah gotta put weight on her. Errrr. Also they told me their full coats dont come in till their 3-4 so she may get her coat back!!!

Then the girl looked over Joker. She was in love with him. Her first win was with a Vizsla. She looked him over and said he was perfect. Great everything. She even got him to stack and hold it. Where was my camera?!!!

I took him around the room and he gaited perfectly. This pup is making my job easy.

Then when the class ended the Mom said she would bring another male pup she had at home and let me work with him next class!!! Man what a perfect night.

Heck maybe soon I will be posting about being in a show!!!

I'll try and find the article that spoke of dogs favoring their own breeds or one similair in appearance. It makes sense that if they had good memories and experiences with their littermates they may favor dogs of the same color. Same if they were born in a home with another breed that added joy to their upbringing. Isnt it cool?

Prior to reading that article I thougth Rory went nuts over other pitties because a lot make the same monkey/chewbacca noise, LOL

How fun for you, Lillie and Joker!

I used to wonder about this very thing.  When Max first started going to the dog park there was a man who went there with two GSDs.  Max was forever trying to get those two dogs to play with him.  No matter how many other dogs were there, he always sought out the two shepherds.  They were sweet  dogs but a bit aloof, and obviously preferred to play only with each other.   Max would just wait until everybody got tired and laid down on the grass, then he'd go over and lie right beside them.

When I was working at a dog groomers for two weeks, she breeds toy poodles as well. Her husband owns a standard poodle that Maze fell in love with but no matter how hard she tried, he would not play with her.  The lady finally took pity on her and let out another poodle for Prince to play with and Maze just kinda ran around with them. But they would not involve her at all. It was sad and funny at the same time cuz Maze had no idea why they wouldn't play with her.

What fun! Handling other peoples' dogs is reaaallly good for you, too.

I cant believe the lady is actually gonna bring a pup for ME to handle. I just started these classes and have a ton to learn. And someone is trusting me to handle their dog!! Gonna have my hands full next class. With me working Lillie,Joker, and another pup.

But it's sooooooo much fun. I love it!!! Cant wait for my first show.

Ena's first show is in October. I'm so nervous! It'll be my first time showing a dog in conformation. Emma and I have been doing rally for a year, and it's SO much fun, I'm sure I'll love conformation, too.

My first show probably wont be till March. But by then Joker will be old enough to show and Lillie should have her coat back.

Good luck Jennie in your show!!
