    Specific harness, worth it?

    http://www.wholesalepet.com/product_view_/p/904356EF-133D-410A-8A14-9E50DA814746

I posted another thread about my girl who's allergic to jsut about everything.  Even if it's not the nylon haness she's allergic to, I still want to switch to leather.  It obviously rubs and irritates her chest and I'm starting to see a little redness under her arms.  No hair loss yet, but I'm not going to wait until it gets to that point, especially with the way her neck looks.  I buy our food and most treats from a private petstore in town.  The lady is super nice and she is the only one to tell me about this harness.  I talked to our trainer and looked all over the web myself and cannot find anything but extra spiked/studded/mean looking leather harnesses which is the last thing I want.  This really looks perfect!  It's pretty expensive, but she said the leather is super soft (she had other products in store for little dogs, and it was soooooo soft!) and I'm sure it will last for years if I take care of it.  Has anyone ever used this company (La Cinopelca) or maybe this specific harness?  I'm hoping it's worth the investment!

IMO - I would not pay $120 for a harness - NOT WORTH IT!!!

Casey used to get sores from his regular harness, we switched to the easy-walk and have no problems since.

What are you feeding? Is it possible it could be a food allergy?

If you want good leather harnesses, look into Schutzhund suppliers.

    etc.

I know a LOT of SchH people using the Bridgeport tracking harness and are very happy with it.

I like leather collars/harnesses/leashes.  With proper care, they hold up for quite some time.  I have this one, & it has worked very nicely for us.  It is padded, doesn't rub, & is a bit cheaper than the one that you are looking at.

The harnesses I've seen from Bridgeport have been very poor quality, and LDS leather is SLOW. The schutzhund places usually have good stuff though.

If *I* were buying a harness for a dog that tended to chafe though? I'd save my pennies and talk to this guy - http://www.circle-e.net/sitemap.htm- about doing a sheepskin lined one. He DOES make regular pet/walking harnesses, they're just not on the site, since they're all custom. He made a friend's assistance dog harness and it's VERY well made.

I love a Sporn -- it's not a classic harness -- it's a collar with straps that go under the front legs (and it comes with sherpa-type covers so they don't irritate).

It's a p.i.t.a to get it adjust the FIRST time -- but thereafter you don't ever unhook the straps.  You just loosen it all the way, take the feet thru the loops and take the collar off over the head (the collar can be as big as you want -- they can't get out of it).

They have a new one that has a mesh piece that goes under the belly instead of the straps.  But it's a good harness.

Sporn is a decent no-pull harness for some dogs, but I'd never recommend it for someone with a dog that has already shown tendancy to chafe, even with the faux sheepskin sleeves - it just puts too much pressure/friction behind the front legs on most animals.

I like the "Urban Trail Harness" made by Alpine Outfitters - custom sizing and D rings, fleece padding, free embroidery of your dog's name or your phone number, nice colors, very quick and helpful customer service, and their harness is only about $30 plus shipping.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. A few of those I've looked at already. My only problem with most of those is that the front part of the harness still sits pretty high on her chest/neck and I need to keep everything off of that area until her hair grows back. I wish I could find another harness similar to the Cinopelca's shape.  It comes together in between her front legs and the sides run down her shoulders, so there's nothing on her chest or neck.  I've been looking for two weeks straight now.  I'm just afraid of buying one, it not working, trying another... and I'll spend $100 anyway (the store owner is a good customer of our's too so she usually gives me a decent discount. and hopefully let me return it if it doesn't work).  I did see some really nice collars and harnesses made out of hemp with a fleece lining for about $30, (planetdog.com) but again, it was too high on her neck.  But their fleece lined collars are extra cute!  Who knows...  I hate to spend so much $$ but I can't stand to look at her red, hairless neck anymore!
