Uh oh, think Barney swallowed his toy

I'm missing a leg off the rubber chicken, can't find it anywhere.  He ripped the toy apart while I was cleaning up the kitchen.

I don't think this would pass through him, and I can't get him to throw up ANY thing except the peroxide and some grass.  None of his dinner came up either.

Anybody? Do you think I should just wait until morning and see if he is ok?

     did the leg show up?

hmmmm..........I'd be making a vet appt.

Here's hoping you DO find it !

    Symptoms of obstruction:

    Fever
    Lethargy
    Irritability
    Inability to defecate
    Lack of appetite

Round, hard objects tend to be more dangerous than shredded ones, or sharp ones, believe it or not.  However, it's always best to call your vet if you think the dog has consumed a foreign object.

I would definitively be calling the vet up asap!

My advise based on my own experience is: go to the vet!

    Good luck!

The vet said he would definitely show signs of problems by tonight if he did swallow it.  So we'll feed him dinner early and if he makes it past that, assume the piece is somewhere else.  Otherwise, we'll take a trip for xrays.  They are open until midnight.

This is the piece of the toy I can't find, next to a ballpoint pen.  The chicken-toes are solid rubber, the rest is just a hollow shell.  My husband says no-way would he eat it.  I've seen him throw up pieces of other stuff he *shouldn't* have eaten, so I'm a little worried.

[sigh] always something.  I thought our avocado tree was the biggest problem.

If your dog is anything like my pup - anything is fair game for eating.  Anything.  I really hope that the piece is just missing somewhere in the house, or if he did eat it he'll pass it.  I've seen dogs pass things I wouldn't have thought possible...

Found it.  I spent the day kicking myself for not watching him closely enough with his toys.  This evening i found the missing chicken leg.  So now I can go back to battling his obsession with the avocados.  Thanks, all.

great news!  Barney LEAVE the avocados alone!

PS I've been amazed that my beast has NO interest in the pecans in our yard - I never knew they were encased in this big green shell the size of a raquetball.  We've had other dogs come over and start playing with them but mine could care less - that's one good thing about him LOL
