"It's Me or The Dog" Anyone else a fan?

The new shows start Oct 1st I believe in the US this time.  I wish she would come work with my dog.  That show would become a whole series in fact!  Let her figure out his quirks and behavior problems.  I have the oddest dog I have ever owned.  I do like her approach also and enjoy the shows even though they are all repeats.  I just want help stopping his constant whining and barking in the car everyday on the way to the dog park.  I am deaf in one ear from this and it just rattles my nerves to no end.

She already did an episode on that - maybe you didn't catch that rerun, but it'll probably air again - I've seen it twice so far.  Till then, check this out:

Doesn't work for all dogs, but maybe worth a try to help salvage your last frayed nerve. Smile

I love the show too! My family's learnt a lot of useful tips on dog training and insights into dog behaviour from Victoria.

did anyone see the episode with Teddy Pom-Pom?

    Oh, poor Teddy Pom Pom.

I watched an episode this morning about the two labs (I think they were labs? Big Brown Dogs! 112 lbs. each!) and the people fixed the dog's suppers and then had frozen TV dinners themselves, since they had already spent TWO HOURS making lamb and vegetable and whatnot for their dogs.

Saw that one; ARE THEY NUTS?  Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with homecooked if you're able and have the time.  But to do so while forsaking your own meals or that of your children?  Heaven forbid they eat that stuff called DOG FOOD.  Priorities folks, let's keep 'em in line.

I love that show and think she does a fantastic job training both the dogs and the people.  Her tactics and methods seem very realistic and user friendly.  Oh, okay, I love hearing the British accents and seeing people's British homes too. Stick out tongue  Which reminds me of another show... House Hunters International!

Hmm. On saturday I spent several hours making dog food and dog treats and then decided to eat chips and dip for supper.  Why? I think my dogs health is a very high priority. Which is why they don't eat commercial dog food anymore. Seen any recalls/poisonings lately?

It's the people on the show who live with un-housebroken dogs for months to years that I think are nutso. There was an episode with some terrier who would get up on the kitchen counters and pee on them and on the oven and on the bread box. It was insane.

My DH and I have been watching her for a while now and really enjoy the show.  When my DH first saw her in her black leather and that spread stance she has, he said he wished he were a bad, bad doggie!  Now when we watch we say "oh look the dominatrix is coming on!"

I lost a little respect for her when I saw she was judging that show Greatest American Dog, it all seemed so contrived to me.  But, I know, I know it's TV of course it's contrived and Victoria has to pay the bills too!  She is going to be a speaker at the APDT conference next month in Kentucky but I can't go this year.

I guess I didn't word my reply very well.  I don't see a single thing wrong with homecooking for your dog.  If, for no other reason than the ones you state.  But when you can't get your act together so that it's affecting the entire family, something has to change.  As you said, you took several house of one day in your week to prepare your dog's food which I think is very practical.  They would spend hours each night - at the expense of time with the family - to feed their dogs.  That's just feeding them.  If I recall correctly, the kids were older, but still.  I find their TIME MANAGEMENT pathetic.  It's almost like saying "I can't go out tonight Billy, I have to wash my hair," but with feeding the dogs instead.  Having a pet, and taking good care of that pet isn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but it shouldn't control your life.

I just saw that one yesterday.  Buster is cute as a button.  But, OMG...that dog was out of control.  Not his fault...completely the owners doing.  I can't even imagine allowing that kind of behavior.  But then again...my dogs are huge!

Love Victoria Stillwell's show.  She cracks me up the way she looks back at the camera when an owner does something stupid....er uh silly.  As if she is looking right at me.  Funny.

The first show that caught my eye was with Ben, the white GSD who was in control of the family when his owner, the DH was at home.  When DH was gone, he acted just fine.  Victoria's solution...DH moves out.  LOL.  Funny!

I too like seeing the homes in the UK and the gorgeous views of the landscape.  Its also interesting to me how the culture sees/treats their dogs as opposed to Americans.  It seems to me that the laws are much stricter there than here as well.  Yes?

I like her show, too. I haven't watched it in a long time because its been re-runs.
