No motivation at all....

The local community classes are just as good but I have heard those hot classes are great too. But to start out & try it I would reccommend going with the cheaper classes cause first of all they are normally filled with "normal" people and no gym bunnies who take the class incrediably seriously & can often make you feel like a muppet cause yoga is challenging, when you first start your not as flexiable & some of the poses are hard to get. You will fall, you will be unflexiable & you will struggle but it's fun & relaxing.

haha, yea - hence why I'm torn! My friend did one of the hot classes - and LOVED it. We're trying to find a time when we can both go together for the class.

Hmm I just got the newest "Activity Guide for the Sunshine coast" (snickers) So I'll take a look in there and see what I find.

I think if you just make yourself get out and do the walking a few times after that you'll want to do it.  I love to walk but sometimes I just don't feel like it for whatever reason.  But, I make myself go, I just tell myself I'll just do 30 minutes today or something like that.  And, I always, ALWAYS, end up doing my full walk once I get started.  Just get out there and do it.

I really agree with this. If you wait to feel super motivated, it may never happen. Don't ponder it for a long time, just set a time that you're going to go and go. There's many time when I am dragging and don't want to go to the gym, so I tell myself that if I get there and don't feel like working out for long, I can leave. I never do though. I think stepping out the door is the hardest part but once you do, you'll feel better and then it becomes a habit. Set small goals and then increase them as you feel more comfortable. Worse than not working out at all is thinking each day that you should've and you didn't.

i ttotally agree with this too, i usually end up beating myself up mentally if I dont go out & do it.

i totally know how you feel about going to a class - i was way nervous when I first started my classes, i didn't know anyone, didn't really know what I was doing! But i stayed, and now I love it, I've been doing it for 3 years.

when I was on Depo I gained alot of weigh too - when I went off of it - the weight literally melted off - or it least it seemed like it, by that time I was working out regularly.

None of my friend's work out, it's just too much 'work' for them. I even have one friend who is convinced that if you do any type of exercise, whatever part of your body its working - it'll get bigger! I've tried to tell that's not true, but she wont listen. ( she thinks she has big arms - she wouldn't even play a game of catch! becuase she was paranoid her arms would get bigger) I honestly gave up ( on trying to get people to work out with me) .  exercising is really about you, you're doing it for yourself.

also check out free sites like sparkpeople.com, there are TONS of things you can do without a gym, or very little investment ( if you have  physio ball your set!).

I would stop the Depo but I have a hard time remembering to take pills and I can't take the risk. Also I am on Spark People. Lol. Big Smile  I know once I start working out, I'll enjoy it. It's just the matter of getting started. Lol.

It is the first class that is the toguhest.....getting off your butt and going but you might meet someone there and it will only get easier after that.

Ok this might sound totally lame but it works for me. Go buy yourself one of those guy mags (not porn, LOL) like FHM or Maxim, look at all the hot girls and then think "oh those b*tches, I can do that too", LOL! Maybe I'm crazy but a hot girl makes me get off my butt!

I've found that the more I run, the MORE energy I have.  The first week was torture.

I totally agree. I started running in mid July, and believe me I was sore, out of breath, and felt like crap. But I went out the next day, and I was still sore and out of breath, and felt like crap (but no as bad)...as the days went on I felt better and better, and I got addicted to running. I started to feel guilty if I didn't do it for a day.

You need to PUSH THROUGH the intial pain of begining to work out. Trust me it will be well worth it.

Not bad advice. I didn't think to buy a girlie magazine but I did subscribe to Shape and just seeing the girls in their and the motivational articles really helped me. It's nice to see before and after pics of women who've stepped up and made huge changes in their lives and know that I could do it too.

LOL! I can just see explaining that to Alex when I get them home. I buy the WW magazines when I get a chance and they've helped a bit.  I've got a couple skirts and a nice pair of white shorts that I really want to wear next summer so they're my goal clothes. I'll have to post pictures when I finally get there. Even if it's snowing, the day I can wear those shorts, I'm wearing them all day! Lol.
