    I'm so MAD! right now.

My sister (who is PREGNANT btw, and visiting from Florida) looked out the window a little bit ago and saw that the neighbor's house, all of..10 feet? from ours is TENTED for termites! Did they warn us? Tell us to close our windows? Keep pets inside? Anything like that? NO! I don't understand why the freaking pest control people don't have to tell immediate neighbors. They're spraying a very toxic gas into the house 10 feet from mine, and yeah, it's covered with plastic, but like I believe it's totally air tight! And I'm sorry, but when they take it off isn't it going to release this gas all over us?? GRR!!

So my sister, fearing birth defects and whatnot, put on a dust mask and left..but she's gonna have to come back some time! And the rest of us, plus all the animals still have to breathe it...

Why do people like to bury their heads in the sand and pretend pesticides aren't harmful? We KNOW they are. Ugh, I'm just really annoyed.

    That's all, end of rant...

    I feel your pain!

My mom and I are both sensitive to pesticides (my mom moreso than me) and so I hate seeing signs that they are in use near me, same with nasty lawn chemicals.  I was thrilled when my next door neighbors put up the same "no pest control please" sign on their door during our quarterly spraying in the complex - one less thing to worry about! :)

You probably feel similar to how I felt when I got home from a vacation in Florida to be told by DH that someone had mistakenly come to our house and sprayed our entire lawn with pesticides!  Kenya got a bad rash all over her belly and privates.  Then a few weeks later they showed up AGAIN and I told the guy to LEAVE.  He seemed really adamant about finishing the job, but DUH if I didn't ORDER POISON on my lawn you have to LEAVE!  He was seriously wearing a mask and some rubber suit thing.  Luckily he started in the front yard where the dogs aren't allowed anyway.

Is it a big chain company? I might call and complain to their head supervisor or something. That's really awful and I'd be pretty peeved too.

    ugh! I hate pesticides!!

A fe years ago when i was living in my old house I saw some guy leaving my house, and I asked what he was doing and he said that we had ordered them to spray the back lawn, he got the address wrong, and sprayed all of my dogs toys in the backyard!  I ended up phoning the company and they had to give my family 80$ to buy my dog all new toys

Good idea.  If you didn't notice a name on the truck, check the phone directory for the names of all the pesticide companies that service your area - big ones and small local ones.  If they've gotten the wrong address twice,  believe me - they'll be back.

Yes, I got the number off the truck and called.  The woman who answered was somewhat of a snot (and I work in a call center so I'm not too quick to complain about phone people) and just told me to "go outside and tell the man!"

Surprise That would be a great idea except for one thing.  "The Man" didn't just up and decide on his own to go to your house.  Someone in the office had to give him his instructions for the day and it was most likely "the snot."  Good luck!

Funny thing was though, he had the house number wrong (our number is on our mailbox) and insisted my landlord called for the service but the name was not my landlord.
