Chip let me clip his nails **brag**

Well since moving into my new place which is a farm pups have to have muddy paws wiped before we go inside, not that this helps the mud situation there is always a slip up plus try getting a wiggley puppy to stay still while wiping her paws can be a mission we are working onit. But Chip he is an old pro by now & has become really good with his paws.

But to start with the brag, I have to explain why me being able to clip his nails is a brag. A while back I was clipping his nails & got him a little he didn't even bleed I just pinched he yelped he is very timid, also doesn't forgive much once you have ruined it. So me getting near his feet with clippers no go, I tried restricting him etc was an ordeal. So we have been going to the vets to get it done, not much easier their muzzle etc.

Well since I have been wiping his feet up to a trillion times a day he has become better with me touching his feet again, never was a problem till I nicked him darn it. So last night while wiping muddy paws I thought those nails need to be clipped should I give it a go. Guess what all 4 paws done & dusted. Easy as just us no one holding him or anything. I am proud of my big boy. I have been feeling so guilty about ruining it & having to pay for a vet nurse to do it. We now can do our own nail trimming like big kids

That's excellent!  I know just how you feel.  I was so proud of Heidi when she Handed me her paws to do nail grinding.  It was so amazing!  She had been sitting by waiting while Buddy had his done...then it was her turn...and apparently looking forward to the attention.

The next time, she gave me a bit of trouble though...but we worked through it.

    Yay Chip!

I have seriously been thinking of getting grinders is it easy?! & are they good?

I like the grinders much better than clipping.  Heidi was pulling her paws back while I tried to clip, and although I never cut the quick...she didn't like the feel.  She is much more comfortable with the grinder.  And, I introduced it slowly and still will only do it for a short stint.  It will get better and better

Buddy, on the other hand...will allow me to grind away with no problem.  There's a bunch of threads on grinding on this forum and here is a link to the best way to introduce and the grinding process too:

I bought a Dremel grinder from a home improvement store.  There are grinders marketed for dogs specifically...but they are basically the same thing.
