Alex and I went for a walk with Maze to do some errands. I figured it was a good time to break in her new collar (which she now LOVES!) so a way we went!
We walked through the local park and Alex found a ball! Since there was no one around, I dropped Maze's leash and we had a quick game of fetch. After she took off like a shot for the ball, she came back to us and just pranced around our feet as we walked through the park, my eyes peeled for people of course. Lol. The thing that surprised me was not 2 feet away sat a flock of Canadian Geese. Maze's favorite bird to chase and she ignored them completely! When we neared the end of the park, I whistled and Maze came prancing up and sat, with the ball in her mouth, and waited for me to grab the leash and we continued on.. Ball still in mouth. Lol
Maze and I waited out in front of the post office while Alex went in to check it. Maze sat there patiently and not a sound.. Usually she's whining and can't sit still when we split up. Someone commented on how pretty she sits and I just beamed and said thanks.
Onward to the mall!! Now Maze has ALWAYS had trouble sitting still out front of the mall. With all the people passing and the smells! It was like she had ants in her pants! Lol. Today thou! Today she laid at my feet, playing quietly with her ball. Yes she still has the ball! Lol. And if there were alot of people, I had her jump up on the bench next to me. The grin on her face was priceless! I wish I had my camera with me today. An elderly couple walked passed, and Maze stretched out her neck and poiletly sniffed the air, the elderly lady just laughed and said "What a well behaved dog she is. And so pretty too". I swear to you, Maze's grin got bigger!!
I know she's progessed but I never realised how far she's come. She's gotten alot better with her issues with strangers and other dogs. I'm not embarrassed to have her out in public anymore, worried about who she might try and lunge at. Of course I will never tie her out front of a store again but I'm proud to be able to walk her down the street and see people smile and comment on her behavior then have the same people hurry across the street to avoid us.
And yes she carried the ball the entire way home!! Lol. I had to put it up though since she tried to skin it. So it's an outside ball. Lol.
