I am kind of creeped out

the more I think about it.

My late Hubby was a member of a hobby forum, much like this one, and sponsored by a similar place, including a magazine.  I kept getting calls all day long (maybe 20) from a number in an area where I know no one, so I didn't answer them.   The person finally left a message, and said he was retired pro in this hobby, and was replying to a question in this mag from my hubby which had apparently been posted on the forum  He said he had better information than what had been given to him.

OK, so now that I knew what it was about, I answered the next time he called.  He did sound older and did sound genuine, but I know he had to search to get our phone number (yeah, it's in the phone book, and Hubby did have the town in his profile...no comment about that one).

I gave the copy of the mag to my son, so I called him to look for it, and he found it.  He is much more computer oriented than I am, and I will talk to him again tomorrow.  But the more I think, the more I get creeped out because this guy called several times an hour, and what he had to suggest was not really a big deal.  So why?

I think maybe I ought to delete Hub's profile from that forum?  I will eventually shut down that computer...

Marty - I don't blame you for being creeped out.  Remember though if this was a retired gentlemen he may have been looking forward to giving your late husband this information and was just being impatient.  He probably didn't realize about caller ID (my grandma has called me 15 times before without leaving a message not knowing I was home, but working so I couldn't answer the phone).

But I would still delete his profile from the computer, just to be safe.

I would ask your son to contact the admins of that forum in order to let them know the current situation.  That way the admins can adjust the profile or delete it altogether, depending on the situation.  I'm just thinking of the way we miss and sometimes look for people that are not posting here anymore.

As far as the frequent phone calls go, my ex-DIL was just  like that.  She'd call at 5 or 10 minute intervals all day and wind up totally filling up the message box.  I never was able to convince her to just call ONCE ... leave ONE message ... and as soon as I got home I'd call her. She just kept thinking someone would be walking through the door any minute and pick up the dang phone.
