To try to make this as short as possible and just give facts.
My daughter has two dogs - A year old Basenji and a Yorkie pup.
Two human daughters ages 2 and 4. Hubby works for the RR so he was not home.
Lexi the Basenji is like a mountain goat in the house but has never climbed the fence outside in the yard and she is never out there by herself.
My daughter/two kids/two dogs were outside in the fence Lexi squeezed thru the fence and the house and was loose.
Daughter put Yorkie in house - daughters in suv to go get Lexi.
Couldn`t find Lexi.
Took the daughters home and gave them supper and then put them to bed. My daughter couldn`t sleep thinking about Lexi so got up and got ready for work - put two daughter back in suv and drove around until she had to drop of daughters at day care and go to work.
Daughter called AC to let them know Lexi was lost and then me. Wanted me to call my sister (who lives 40 miles closer than I do) at 7:00 when she gets up to see if she would go out and look for Lexi. I said ok. Thought about it for a minute and called her anyway. Why put off what you can do right now right. Told her what was going on and she (a cat person) said that as long as she was NOW awake she would go out there.
Lexi came home at 7:03 AM. My sister said it was a good thing that I called her much earlier than 7:00 that because the traffic was getting heavy with people going to work when she went out there much earlier than 7:00.
The cruelty come in when my sister called me at 7:03 and said that she found Lexi and it wasn`t pretty. I started crying right away and then she said no I`m just kidding that Lexi was ok and in the house playing with the baby Yorkie. Remember she is a cat person.
I believe I lost a couple years off my life on that one.
I called my daughter to tell her Lexi was ok and as soon as she heard my voice she started crying thinking the worst.
The space between the fence and the house was fixed that day.
