    Horse Supplements

Ok I am hoping I can get some wonderful insight from my fellow i-dog board members.

I have my horse on 2 supplements and I am shopping for a change on one. Currently he is on StrongidCX2 with the Pfizer Preventicare program. I just talked with them so I know this "can" work. I am also thinking about switching my joint supplement from Finish Line Fluid Action HA to one of the Cosequin products.

My first question is about Cosequin. I am looking at one of 3, either Cosequin Optimize with MSM, or Cosequin ASU or the Smart Pak version Cosequin SP. Do any of you use any of these products and did you notice anything good or bad when used? If you "moved up" to the ASU version did you notice any improvement?

My second question is about Smart Pak. I don't feed that many supplements, I hope that doesn't change, but is there a point where it becomes economical to do or not to do Smart Paks? Are they easy to order? Do they remind you?

I have always bought my supplements in bulk because I had 2 horses, and then filled smaller containers for each horse. As their containers got low refill. However it is no longer smart for me to buy in bulk as I only have 1 horse now so I am investigating my options. I know I will be out of joint supplement soon so I need to get off my butt. Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Thanks

Keep in mind I don't have horses (had them until I was a teenager), but as a dog owner, I don't find Smart Paks all that economical.  I'd rather buy the supplements I need in a size convient for me, and measure them out myself.

I was having a hard time finding out "how much" a day for the Cosequin was. I finally found out. I think I am going to stick to "bulk", not that I buy as much as I did with one horse. I found a great place with great prices about $1 a day cheaper for the Cosequin than Smart Pak. I am going to ask my trainer/barn owner her opinion, but my bet is she doesn't care.
