    Poison oak....owww, itchy!

Ok, so I think I have come into contact with some poison oak.  I did some weed-pulling this weekend, and although I didn't see any (I know what it looks like), I now have a couple patches on my ribcage that look like poison oak rashes.  I have had this before, and I have some scrubby stuff you use in the shower that is supposed to get rid of the chemical that causes the rash, and I have also been using hydrocortisone cream since I discovered this yesterday, so that should clear up the rash on my side.

Unfortunately, I think I must have scratched and then touched my face, because I have a small itchy bump now near my right eye.  I'm afraid to use the scrubby stuff that close to my eye.  Does anyone have any good remedies that could keep this from spreading all over my face and also won't make me go blind if I accidentally get it too close to my eye?   I'm trying to avoid a trip to the doctor and expensive prescription steroid creams...

I've always just used Calamine lotion. I actually didn't think you were supposed to scrub it with anything, so I'm no help there - sorry.

Pink calamine lotion all over my face..that'll be attractive, lol!  I think they make a clear version now...guess I'll pick some up tonight!  I can't believe I had totally forgotten about calamine lotion....the perfect solution, thank you!

Don't 'scrub' because you can spread it, HOWEVER, you want to use something that will cut grease -- either something like Benzoyl Peroxide face wash -- or you could even just put a pinch of baking soda in with a bit of liquid soap that you can use on your face (and i mean just a tiny pinch) -- baking soda is one of the world's greatest grease cutters.

Yeah, I don't want to use the scrub on my face.  I got a very bad case all over one leg last year, and the scrub worked wonders.  But I just don't think I should get it too close to my eyes.  Will benzoyl peroxide cream work, as opposed to a wash (again, the eye thing)?  I have some of that already, too.  Here's a little blurb on the scrub I have: The Removal Scrub binds with the invisible itch-causing toxin urushiol, allowing it to be washed away.  I did not experience it causing the rash to spread when I used it before.
