olympics opening ceremony (jm)

so, i was planning of trying to get as close to the stadium as i can and just take pics of the people and the fireworks. well i got sick yesterday and with things being crazy, road blocks etc around the stadium i didnt wanna risk fainting in the heat or something, cause i cant get home on time.

so instead i went to the stadium across the street. they had put a tv screen that you could see from outside the gate and a few people had gathered there to watch the big moment. so i went with a few friends. unfortunately, cause i only went there on short notice, i didnt have a tripod (i was gonna borrow one from my BF but getting sick i thought i'd just stay in), so my shots are painfully blurry. mostly just shots of the crowd that had gathered...

after about 30 min, we couldnt bare the heat anymore. so we decided to go to a near by bar where we could finish watching. i was waving my chinese flag like an idiot (someone had handed it to one of my friends earlier) when we ran across this guy in front of the bar. he was looking for a place to put up his flag. my friend took the picture, and i look horrible, cause i was also kinda feverish and sweaty (yes, i admit, that IS sweat on my shirt Embarrassed ) but you get the idea...

Thanks for sharing these, Janet! I feel your pain. I know how hot it is in China, It was sweltering the whole time I was there!!!

yeah, you're right. these days it is unbearable... hopefully in a few weeks the weather will turn around...

wow great pictures Janet, I felt like I was there!

I LOVE heat but not sure if I could stand "that temp"....ohhh cant wait for more pics :)))))

Thanks for sharing and hope you are feeling better. I hope you weren't too busy taking pictures and so missed the opening ceremonies on the screen. Watched them on TV and they were absolutely just unbelievably fantastic.

yeah, i did miss some of the ceremony... plus the screen was so small!! i'll be rewatching it one of these days anyways, so i didnt mind too much...
