I think most liberals have a very distorted idea of what communism is all about in the countries where it has been applied.......

OMG! Liberal does NOT = communist! This is the worst kind of political "debate"...with the sending stereotypical insults a-flyin' in BOTH directions. Good gravy. I think nearly everyone in this thread (and yep, that includes me for even bothering to respond at all..) needs to grow up. A LOT.

Where in this thread does it say that liberal = communism?

    Please, read agan.

Of course, liberalism doesn't always equal communism. Sometimes, it equals socialism, the belief that you can get 8 ounces out water of a 6 ounce glass, most common in a warm body franchise. Just think back to the 90s and some of the offered solutionts like nationalized healthcare.

Without a teleprompter, George Bush dies faster, and in eight years, he has never learned to say n-u-c-l-e-a-r correctly!!!  Apparently, that didn't get in the way of you supporting him, since it's readily apparent that you have a lot of disdain for the democrat whose name you seem to have forgotten.   Your point about the man's comment would have been far more salient had you avoided falling in to the trap of couching it in racism, which is what the "B. Hussein Obama" designation suggests.

    This isn't about Bush.....

I am not against that idiot from Illinois because he is black or his muslim name.....I am against his political platform. OTOH, I really like Condoleezza Rice, ooops, look she is black.

Then why not just say that without the use of the Hussein middle name?  I could respect a discussion about issues, and an argument about why our politicians on both sides of the aisle have failed the "statesman" test.  Incidentally, I thought Obama's comment about saving gas was pretty dumb, too, but I really think that America needs to address its larger issues somehow.  This is still a country with a lot of racist and, frankly, prejudicial religious attitudes.  That needs to stop.  And, so does our dependence upon foreign oil, and our dependence on borrowing money from China, lest we all end up so beholden to that sleeping giant that we don't have elections to worry about any more.

most of the people I know spouting these views have never lived, much less been, to a Muslim country or province.

It is amusing that so many bash Bush for his lack of speaking skills and for his pronunciation of certain words, yet no one refers to Obama's lack of speaking skills. He does very well when spouting out a speech, but in unrehearshed conversation he drives me insane!

All those uhhs! But noone notices when**content removed, baiting** speaks that he cannot seem to find his thoughts.

My priorities are different.  Substance, and getting facts straight, are much more important to me than a few "uhhs" or other placeholders that so many of us use while we gather our thoughts.

Now when someone, especially someone who is supposedly an expert on something (oh, let's say someone like John McCain and foreign policy) repeatedly gets simple facts wrong, that bothers me.  For reference, see my post on the first page of this thread regarding McCain on Czechoslovakia, McCain on his apparent belief that Iraq and Pakistan share a common border, McCain on the difference between Sunni and Shia, etc.  And of course there are all those misspeaks on issues other than foreign policy matters.  Like the time he was in North Carolina and kept referring to West Virginia, etc.

^I agree .....but, i think it's just a little more important to know that there are 50 states not 57 like Obama thought......
