something I haven't seen in a very long time....

    a dog chasing its tail.

Gracie has a nub - a docked tail - no inclination for her to chase her own tail.

Achilles on the other hand just spent almost a minute chasing his tail.  Out of nowhere.  The dogs are playing around being goofs and then he starts spinning....  I'd think this was some sort of disorder if it wasn't so stupidly normal....

Dogs chasing their tails.... I can't believe I sat there in awe while he spun around - like it was something novel... I've been around Doberman too long, I guess...

    LOL

Bugsy used to chase his tail as a pup all the time.  Thing is his is so long he can get it pretty easy then he would attack it and chew it Stick out tongue

Bear chased his tail a few times when he first came to live with me until he did it one night in the living room.  Moose the cat got so startled when Bear did it that he attacked him, leaping off the cat tree, pouncing on Bear's head, paws, teeth, and spit a-flying.  When Bear tried to get away from him, Moose followed and continued the attack.  I intervened with the spray bottle.  Bear hasn't chased his tail since.

Since Morrison has a docked tail the only one he chases is Monroe's.  We call it tail envy.

Of course, Monroe tells him where, exactly, he should go when this happens.  Then Monroe looks at us with "Why did you get a puppy again?" in his eyes.  It's pretty funny.

lol I have been around my aussies so long that I'm not used to tails anymore. Except for Dakota's of course, but she's no spring chicken so her tail really doesn't wag much, nor does she chase it.

LOL, after having Rotties for the last10 years "The Tail" was new to us too.  Took us a while to get used to the thump thump noises in the house not to mention the surprise of having something out of nowhere rub across you leg!   Now we have 2 Tails in the house and Hot Shot's tail is big and heavy when he wags his tail it makes lots of noise and if you are close enough a pretty good breeze! LOL!  Free fanning, if I could just figure out how to channel the fan direction, Confused

My big CAT, Bandit, chases his tail!  It must be seen to be believed!  A big boy (he weighs almost 20 lbs!) with a beer gut who chases his tail in huge circles! The first time he did this, I laughed until I hurt! ROFLLL

I think that Luke may have chased his tail a grand total of two times as a puppy before he decided it wasn't worth his time.

Kaiser, though?  Kaiser does it multiple times a day.  Sometimes he just goes and goes and goes -- I don't know how he stays on his feet!  He apparently finds it to be a very entertaining game.

Jamie chases her tail constantly...she does it as an anxiety-relieving behavior when she gets stressed. She'll do it for 10, 15, 20 minutes at a time, during which time anything in her way is fair game to get knocked over. She's taken out coffee tables, chairs, moved the couch across the room, run over the other dogs or cats in the household, and took DH down at the knees once. She goes deaf while chasing her tail, so our options are to physically stop her or let it play out. The Xanax that she takes for her SA doesn't seem to help with this anxiety behavior though...the other two dogs are far too normal to chase their tails like she does.

LOL. Riley chases his tail now and then. He pretty much always catches it, and then I find little tufts of hair in his mouth. Stick out tongue

My previous golden Amber chased her tail ALL THE TIME!!! She loved the game. However all my dogs since have only on rare occasion.

Maze will chase her tail when she needs to pee or gets really excited. She always catches it but she still spins with it in her mouth. Really quite entertaining.

Sally went through a period of short bursts of tail chasing.  Jack never wasted his time chasing his tail--he preferred beating it into submission.... Stick out tongue

I love that Tootsie only has a nub, but seeing that would crack me up.

Ari loves to chase her tail.  It amuses me to no end.
