See Sofia's Sister! And her friend Lily!

I'm visiting down in Albuquerque with my son and his girlfriend. Sofia's sister Athena lives with Ole, so I took the opportunity to take some photos. Lily is the dog Amber, Ole's girlfriend, got from the Human Association. She's a pit bull/beagle mix. I like to say she's a new slightly overweight breed called a Piggle. She's really cute, as you can see.

If you look very closely at Athena you can see that her muzzle is slightly more square than Sofia's. Her tail curls the opposite direction, too.

Wow Sofia and Athena look almost exactly alike!! Beuatiful dogs!! Lily is a cutie too!!  Wow I'm jealous you are in NM.  I was there years ago and just loved it.   I was there for X-mas and everything was so beuatiful covered in snow.  That was when I lived in So.CA and snow was a novelty, now that I live in MD, it gets old quick.  But I still love NM, beautiful part of the country.

Wow, Athena is  almost as gorgeous as Miss Sofia.  Lilly looks like a sweetie.

Yep - gotta look pretty close to see the differences, but Sofia's muzzle does come to a finer point!  I LOVE that their tails curl in opposite directions - how cute is that?

    Lily's a cutie, too.

    Have a nice visit!

Awww! Except for those few differences they look so alike one another. What cuties they both are

When they were puppies we had to put different colored collars on them so that we could tell them apart.

There are a couple more differences: Sofia has some black spots on her tongue, Athena's tongue is nearly all black now. And, well, this may be TMI but with curled up tails it's hard to ignore.....Athena's little anus is black and Sofia's is pink! [sm=uhoh.gif][sm=rofl.gif] You'll be happy to know I *didn't* take a picture of that.

Lily is a real character. She has the greatest expressions. She's a real beagley food hound, too. I'm going to teach her a bunch of tricks while I'm here. She's the big cuddle bug, too. And she washes my feet for me every night. [:D]

It's really strange being here with Athena, Sofia's sister. It's kind of like having Sofie be here, but it's not her. It keeps me from missing her so much, though! We took her to the vet today because I suspect she has some kind of something going on making her about ten pounds underweight. We did a blood draw today. Ole sat on the floor, She hooked her head over his shoulder, and the vet took blood from a back leg while I fed her about half a can of Pupperonis! She's much easier to vet than Sofia, but still not easy.

Athena has been feeling listless, is thin, and went out and ate a whole stomachful of green foxtails then horked them up. We didn't know about it until yesterday she was gacking on something in her mouth and I dug a foxtail out of it. These are green and pretty soft, so not as dangerous as the dry ones, but still. I figured she was eating them because they are the only green thing in the yard. I fed her three pieces of bread to protect her insides. The vet today told me it was very good that I did that, and admonished Ole that he MUST get rid of all the foxtails.

Anyway, after finding the foxtail in her mouth, and seeing her trying to eat houseplants (YIKES!) we moved the plants out of reach, and took her outside to eat grass. We were careful to go to the grass that hadn't been sprayed. Anyway, she ate a ton a grass just like a little cow, then this morning horked up two big wads in the kitchen. Earlier that day we'd found the big wad of previously barfed up foxtails in the backyard....

This afternoon she went to the vet, as I said. I told the vet, who is extremely talented, by the way, that I was concerned about diabetes, thyroid, and that we should do a whole panel and she agreed.

We'll find out tomorrow what the results are.

In the meantime I bought Athena a new collar, and Lily and Athena got their first Kong toys today! Lily is in chew-dog heaven!
