    Zip Line for Backseat

Do you guys think the zip line harness thing for the backseat is safe?  It doesnt look as secure as fastening them to the actual seatbelt, but maybe it is.  What do you think?

I was trying to find a hammock style backseat cover but the ones I like dont have holes for the seatbelt, so unless I cut it, I don't know how I'd harness her in.  The zipline would work, but not I'm not sure about it.

As for the zipline and how they have it attached in that ad, my worries would be are car handles really tested to withstand the weight of holding back a dog in a crash?  I've seen handles pop off when humans were just using them to help pull themselves in the car. <.<

Absolutely NOT!!  Even if the handles were strong enough, there is absolutely nothing keeping the dog's head from hitting the windows in an accident.

Frankly, I doubt the handles would even hold with 300 lbs of pressure.  There is no reason for car makers to make the handles stronger than that.  Since human seatbelts have to rated for 5000 lbs to handle accidents, I sure wouldn't trust those handles.

It looks like the zip line functions to keep the dog on the back seat, but I would absolutely not trust it to be of any help in a real crash or rollover.  I don't trust anything that isn't specifically designed and tested for that amount of impact, and don't attach to anything but the anchors behind the seat that are designed for that (child seat anchors).

If you got in a bad accident, the thing could snap so the dog could get a bad injury, get ejected, get thrown into YOU and injure you, or get tangled and choked in those lines.

I'm too paranoid, I don't trust anything but a crate with the right wire gauge.  My crate can't go anywhere because it's so big that I have to put it up IN the car.  When it's up, it cannot fit out the door or any window.  Plus, I attach it to the anchors behind the seat.  I've heard one too many stories of dogs spooking and splitting after car accidents.  I've also heard stories of dogs that have survived without injury in secure crates and properly designed harnesses.
