Quick! Should Granola be Crunchy when it...

Comes out of the oven?  Or would it be like cookies and a little chewy until it cools?  I'm so impatient...

I've never made it before but it smells sooooooo good!

I have never made Granola but imagine it is sort of like a cookie. Cookies are chewy until they cool off.

    Holy Cow!!!  You made granola???

I would think that it would be a bit chewy until it cools.

Well, I'm letting it cool now, so I'll let you know in a bit.  I decided to take it out of the oven before it burned, rather than trying to time it so it came out when it was already crunchy but not burned.

My friend always makes her own granola.  I had a huge bag of quick oats that I had been using to make dog cookies before I quit feeding them oats(Crusher issues as per usual) so I thought I'd give it a try.  Plus a box of cereal like Honey Bunches of Oats is like $200 now!  LOL.  I can't afford to buy cereal anymore!

Can you post the recipe Candace?  My husband is on a low carb thing right now but he can have oats.

LOL Lori...I'm not sure this recipe would go towards an low carb recipe.  There's lots of sugar in there...

Basically I don't do recipes... I just throw things together and hope for the best.

I think I used about 8 or 10 cups of quick oats.  A cup of Slivered Almonds, and about the same or a little less of sunflower seeds because thats what I had on hand.  I mixed those together in a big bowl.  Then in another bowl I threw a cup or 2, ok, maybe 2 and a half of brown sugar, 3 tbsp of olive oil, 1/4 cup of maple syrup, a tbsp of vanilla, and a tsp of salt, mixed that up, microwaved it for a minute or so so it was pretty runny then I mixed it in with the oats.  I had to make a bit more of the sugar stuff cause I wasn't satisifed with the coating, but it was trial and error.  Then I spread it on two cookie sheets and tossed them in the oven for 10 minutes at 300.  Took it out, stirred it around, and put it back in for another 10 or so.  At that point it was still pretty chewy, but I took it out anyway, and it has gotten pretty crunchy.  Tastes yummy!  I think you could just about add whatever you wanted.  It was easy!

ETA:  I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER BUY GRANOLA FROM THE STORE AGAIN!!!!!!!    EVER!
