[:(] He didn't make it (Sowilu)

Sad I am sorry to say that Splash died today. I found him dead in the crate I was keeping him in. I feel sorry for the little guy. I did everything I could.

    RIP Splash

I'm sorry Splash didn't make it :(  Next time, I seriously suggest bringnig a wild bird to a local rehabber instead of trying to care for it yourself.   It is illegal for a reason which is for the best interest of the bird.  Rehabbers know exactly how to care for orphaned baby birds as well as injured adult birds.  They know how to provide the proper warmth, food etc...  Here is the link I posted on your other thread to find a rehabber: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm

Also  here link on what to do when you find a baby bird.  There is information in there that explains why wild ducklings will not survive without specialized care.

I was looking for a rehab but I could not find any. I will look again though and have them saved in my contact list incase something like this happends again. Thanks for the info.

Baby wild things are *very* difficult to help survive.  Then often when you do, you can't return them to the wild.

You did your best ... but do continue to try to find a local rehabber (call your Fisheries and Wildlife commission -- they may actually know someone -- or ask at Animal Control -- they also may know someone).  Develop a relationship with them -- helping a rehabber can be fun an incredibly rewarding, even if you only visit a couple of times it can be incredibly beneficial.

I'm sorry to hear that about Splash.  Sad  I know you feel badly but you did the best you could.  Even if you'd found a rehabber, it's not guaranteed that they'd be able to take little Splash in or that they'd give you good info.  The original rehab people I spoke to about my bat issue told me something a local rehabber completely disagrees with, so you did what you could at the time.
