HONEY'S POSSUM

    HONEY'S POSSUM

THIS IS HONEY'S POSSUM.  YOU CAN SEE WHY  I HAD  SO MUCH TROUBLE GETTING HIM OUT OF SUCH A CRAMPED SPACE..  IF HE WOULD HAVE JUST PLAYED DEAD  LIKE THE IFRST ONE DID, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH EASIER AND NOT SO SCAREY.

AND THIS IS HONEY, MY POSSUM GETTER.  THIS WAS TAKEN  THIS MORING AS SHE WAS SNIFFING ON A CACTUS "LEAF", BUT I THINK SHE WAS REALLY HUNTING FOR A TREE FRONG OR KATYDID TO BRING INTO THE HOUSE TO PLAY WITH.

Cheyanne has a few words for Honey. Your supposed to kill it NOT bring it in the house!!!

Oh I think possumes are hideous but that ones face is cute.

Sorry Kim...there is absolutely, positively under no certain terms cute about that nasty creature.  Big Smile  You are entirely too nice.  LOL

Ther ARE hideous.  Just look at that tail....GAROSS!  Look at the patches of fur missing...EEEW.  Just gives me the heebie jeebies looking at the picture.

Honey, on the other hand is ADORABLE.

     Ew.

Oh, didn't realize there were pictures of this critter!  How cool!  That's one of the most unique looking ones I've seen...usually their faces are all white and wider than that with bigger ears.

Ok, admittedly I'm kindof a possum fan.  And as for the "disgusting rat tail".... I've owned pet rats for almost 10 years - I love those tails Wink

Agreed!!! OMG - I would be totally freaking out if that thing was in my bathroom. The first time I ever saw one of those critters it was just waddling across the street as I was driving home about 10:00 p.m. I thought it was a rat that had been living in the sewer, surviving on some kind of toxic nuclear waste and growing to immese proportions ... it would have made a great horror movie. Surprise

Ewwie, that gave me the heebie jeebies.....I dont like them at all, they creep me out to no end! Even as vicous as racoons are at least they are cute!

My friends cat used to bring birds in the house, kill them and feathers would be everywhere! The carcass was usually in her closet in a shoe or under the bed.....it was like playing "where's the dead birdy"....it was especially cool when she would come home after a night out downtown a lil buzzed, LOL!

Aww poor little guy, he looks terrified.  Glad to see you were able to safely remove him.

Never sure why so many people dislike possums though.  They have such cute faces. =3

you guys are mad. you can love ratty looking stray dog off the streets but not a possum!?!?

lmao! i like them too, just not in chicken coops.....

Kaydee  is tapping my on the shoulder telling me she agrees with Cheyanne. She says to call her for "Proper Possum Killin Instruckshuns"

I had a possum problem last year. I thought the cat had gotten in the house so I looked and instead it was baby possum. I threw a towel over it and put it in a crate. It was dark out so I waited till the next morning to let it go, plus I wanted to show JJ and possibly keep it.Indifferent Yes I know wild animals arent ment to be pets but it was a baby and I have a weakness for baby animals.

Anyways I took it to the barn the next morning, opened the door, and left it. We dont use the barn for anything but tractor and riding mower storage. That night I'll be danged if I didnt find another possum in the house. Once again I caught it and let it go. Next night it came back. Catch and release happened again but this time a mile down the road. Errr and the very next night there it was again. I didnt want to catch it in Samantha's room so I had to let Cheyanne take care of it for me. I tried to give it a chance but I had to think about my daughter's safety in the end. I know it was the same possum because after I had Cheyanne get it out of the house for me I never had any more possums.

Dumdog Cheyanne learned how to possum hunt because I had chickens when living with my parents. Possums do not belong in a chicken coop or house!!!

Possums are all over the place where I live, so I see them all the time...never had one inside, though lol.

Several years ago, Brown caught a possum in the yard and brought it under the tree. I don't know what he thought it was, but when he got under the tree and let it go, he looked stunned.

Did the possum hiss and show you his razor-sharp teeth? I had to shoo one off of the porch last year, and that one definitely was super mad with me.

Kle lol i rescued a mother possum and about five of her babies - got hit by a car - it was soooooooooooo hard not to keep one of the babies. they were about the size of a young feeder rat - like you'd buy in a pet shop.. not a baby and not an adult - when we stopped to help the mother out one of the babies was running down the road as fast as he could, scared witless... being so small he wasnt very fast so i scooped him up and wrapped him the lower length of my shirt which settled him down. all the others were still clinging to their mom.

they lived with us for about a week before mama possum escaped and took her babies with her.

i still wouldnt mind some day having one for a pet.... as in.... it cant go back to the wild for a very very good reason. i would never be able to just take one from the wild... i was tempted to keep that one baby but i resisted!

ewwwwww!!!! you go girl! props to you for taken care of business....

Im such a weenie, i would have called the cops to catch it in a cage then release it back into the wild or something... i would have been in histerics...

snakes, bugs, possums, anything like that... BTmomma doesn't do!!!! so many many props to you!!

Yep, it hissed and showed that mouth full of long needle like teeth and it growled and it bit the hoe handle.  He was not a happy camper, but i think he ws sure happy to be back outside when i released him.  i think he had a cute face, actually, but would not want one for a pet. Between the growls and hisses, they sound very much like a cat.

Had it been a snake in there, i would have shut the door, put a towel along the bottom so it couldn't get out andwited for someone braver thanme to come and get it out.

Isn't it odd in New Zealand we kept seeing a lovely animal run over in the road, I finally asked a man what it was  It was an Oppsum he said , no wayyy I claimed Possums are really ugly scruffy critters, Nah he asid they trap them for the soft rabbity pelts. I could just see my husband's kids being excited over a oppossum coat !! the pelt was genuinely lovely and they are considered varmits there too but  so much cuter than our version !!! And the tail on the NZ possum was fluffy and pretty !!

I described ours with the rat like face and tail and they had to go look it up to make sure we were not messing with them !
