I had no idea I was waiting too long.
I though as soon  as he showed any signs of reacting to turn around, but I will work on watching him better and trying to keep him in that comfort zone at all times.

I just finished a discussion group on the book "The Cautious Canine" by Patricia McConnell.  There were several owners of reactive dogs there who swear by the methods she lays out and it's a cheap, quick read.  Might be worth a try for his reactivity, but it does take alot of practicing to get him closer and closer to what sets him off as you work through the process.

Fantastic harness - that will allow him to pull like a train should he so desire Stick out tongue

Looks like it might be hard to find but worth it - lots of places did have it on sale

Yeah, I was going to say, a harness allows your dog to REALLY get some good traction in and pull HARD! So if pulling is a problem I wouldn't use a regular harness.

And Sofia is a noodle escape artist. She can back out of ANY harness. I don't think there is a harness that a dog can't get out of if they really want to.

I used a regular harness to teach Cherokee not to pull. And I'm using the Webmaster to teach her not to pull or react to other dogs. Going really well. Just because a harness would allow a dog to pull doesn't mean they will pull.

I really can't see a dog backing out of a Webmaster if it's fitted well. Especially a dog like Sofia who has a very definite waist (Cherokee doesn't have much of a waist, and I think it would be impossible or very near impossible for her to get out of the Webmaster, so a dog WITH a waist? fergetaboutit), because one of the straps sits behind the rib cage. How can a strap tightened to waist size slip over a dog's chest? Unless they're grossly obese...it can't.

BlackLabbie thanks for that website.  I just ordered a medium red harness for Co-Co.  We've started biking and she seems to really like it but I hated doing in w/ her on a collar.  I can wait to get this for her.  YAY!!

Unless they are a husky! LOL

She really is a noodle and incredibly flexible, with a snake head, too. I'm willing to get her one when I can afford it, and try, but I'm betting she can Houdini out of it at will, just like she does with her Champion harness. The thing is, she mostly doesn't, because she loves going in the car (it's part of her seat belt system) and out on her cable run ( I hook both her leash and her harness--had a special hookup made just for her). The harness means FUN to her so for the most part she leaves it on.

She might not back out of a Webmaster... she might take her feet out and the drop it off the opposite way.The main point is that I never assume she can't get out of something because she has always proved me wrong!

They do look like neat harnesses!

    Willow has the same harness.

It doesn't loosen with pulling like other harnesses do, WIllow's stepped out of ones like that too.
