Does anybody know how much it costs to get a goat neutered? I bought one today that was destined to go to the pot. Right now its at the place where I ride horses with two other goats Lily and Ricky. If I can I might keep him but if not I will try to find a home for him. I should have taken pics......!!!

I have no idea about getting goats neutered... I just wanted to say... that I love goats.

    You want him?! jk

Cutest little thing with his little horns coming in. I picked him up and he scream in my ear maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. He was scared but its a young goat, I don't know how old he is. Hopefully Lily and Ricky will be nice to him.

Goats go into shock fairly easily, & are senstivie to anesthesia, so find a vet who regularly does goat work.

Prices will vary depending on your location.  It is quite similar to a dog neuter, so I would guess that it will be close to a neuter price.  Call around to check the prices, & goat experience of the vet.

I thought goats and other livestock were banded (please don't flame, I'm not saying I agree w/ it, just that I thought that's how it was done.)

On the horse.com forum there's a member, Dakota Sunrise, whose family breeds and raises goats. She's a very nice girl, and if you wanted more info, I'm sure she'd be happy to help.

Yep,Wethering a goat here costs about as much to fix a dog. Im about to get a young wether from a guy who was about to sell him for food, aswell. His name is Roaster. lol

Some local breeders even nuture goats on their farms, maybe you could get in tocuh with a breeder near you and find out what vet they use. I suggest going to a vet who knows about gelding livestock.

He is at a farm right now and the owners will be asking their vet (horse vet) how much it costs. I would love to place the little guy though.

No flames -- I think banding has to be done when they're pretty young.

Hmm Do you know what breed he is? Some breed clubs might help you place him. But if you decide to keep him then you chould show in him 4-h things and goats do make good companions for horses.
