Funny story - I am standing in the lobby waiting for my rep to bring me up and I saw a little person (I think that's the PC phrase) and I thought, wow, not something you see everyday.  Then I looked around and saw another and then another.  Then I realized there was a little person convention going on there.  Suddenly I realized that I was surrounded by tens of little people.  Now I am not particularly tall - about 5 ft. 9 in.  in heels but here I was TOWERING over everyone in the lobby - boy did I feel completely out of place!

hehe, did you see any cameras following them around? I just thought of Little People Big World and their yearly little people conventions.

LOL...now you know how they feel most of the time.  :)  I'm friends with a little person, which is a very acceptable and nice way of describing them.  You can also use dwarf, but not midget.  No "M" word.

Thanks for the clarification - I knew the M word was bad (and it sounds bad to be honest) but I wasn't sure.  It's a funny story because I am sure I looked ridiculous and I know I will be telling it again and again and I didn't want to keep using the wrong words!

Very uncomfortable situation...

The company I interviewed with and am waiting to hear back from has a relationship with the owner of the company I am working for now.  Since it is a client/vendor relationship it is good, etc.  I got this email this morning from the owner of the company I am with now saying that I need to make a sales call appt. with the company, in fact the person, I interviewed with on Tuesday TODAY.  Man, I hope this doesn't mess things up.  This is just weird!  The guy I interviewed with is friend's with the owner of my current compay and had promised not to say anything to him about me interviewing etc. but I am getting worried of two things:

1.  I am not going to get this job because of this relationship they have with each other (which I didn't know about until after I was in the interview)

2.  The owner is going to find out that I went on this interview

The only good thing I have going for me is that I didn't seek out this opportunity, they searched me out and I didn't have anything except glowing praise for my current company during the interview.

Wow that is an akward situation to be in.

You may not get the job just because of the relationship between companies, but since this company came looking to talk to you, I doubt that anything will be said to your current boss.

 I would think though, that since they sought you out there not going to be too worked up over who you worked for.  I guess its a wait and see right now.

Hope your appointment goes well.  Maybe the interviewer will look at this like a test and able to see you "in action" it could be ok.

Well, I called my rep to help ease my concerns and he was very understanding and told me to definitely not worry about it.  The only reason they are waiting until tomorrow for a final decision is due to big company formalities.  I can't think, I can't sleep, I can't concentrate...I hate this.  I would rather be in labor right now that waiting for this!!  Honestly!!

Well, good luck, anyway. The company I work for now was one that I worked for from Jan 2001 to Aug 2005. I was laid off by the gen supt who, as it turns, not only jacked me up (realizing in hindsight) but jacked up the company, too. To make matters worse, the owner of the company briefly thought I might have been in cahoots with the gen supt. But Dec. 2007, when I interviewed to come back, he was over the past and willing to let go the challenges I had on my last project (which I did complete by the finish date with half of the crew I was supposed to have and a 5 month delay) as some of those problems were likely related to direct sabotage from the gen supt. At the same time, he also doesn't care how much money I made the company in the past (I made a truckload of money for them on a power upgrade to an elementary school with half the crew I was supposed to have and we still finished a month early on a 3 month contract). I still have to perform and excel, just as I would at any company. That's fair enough. And he doesn't have a gen supt anymore. He gets personally involved with each job now, so he can keep accurate tabs on manpower needs, material needs, schedules, etc.

If I can make it back through all that political crap and machiavellian machinations, you might just get through this interview process.
