any other puzzle geeks out there? (jm)

i like puzzles of all kinds... (and get made fun of a ton, lol)

just wondering, if you do jigsaw puzzles... do you just do them, where the dogs cant get to? for me it seems like i cant find such a place. the only place that has enough space that i could keep the dogs out is the bathroom. but the lighting sucks. ergh.. there's no solution, right? is there? *sigh*...

for what it's worth, if you like logic puzzles, you should try out this site. i quite like it. http://www.conceptispuzzles.com/index.aspx

so anywayss... what kinda puzzles do you like? Stick out tongue

I like crossword puzzles but my all  time favorite is Crypto-quote ... the one where each letter is represented by a different letter.

DH and I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles together. Luckily we have a big extra table downstairs that we use to sit at and do the puzzles, and our dogs can't get to the pieces. We are currently working on one that is sooooooo hard!

mrv! WHY??? now you stopped me from doing work completely!!! hahaha...

i used to go to zone.com, i think, to do online jigsaw puzzles for quite a while, but ended up figuring out the pattern, so it got boring. the nice thing there is, that it sorts the pieces for you and you can turn the pieces... you should try it! Wink

as for me, i bought a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle the other day! the fun part is, that it's double sided, so its harder to do PLUS i get to do it twice! yay!!! now only have to figure out how... hmpf...

My favorite (non-virtual reality) puzzles have always been Springbok. But, we have a great thrift store which sells used puzzles for only $1.25. So, I take the chance of a missing piece (only one so far has had a piece missing) and have found some real gems there! The best find was a 1000 piece fan shaped puzzle with a beautiful picture of a japanese garden in it.

Most of the puzzles I get at the thrift, I finish and then bring back to the store...unless it's a reeeally good one like the fan. That one is a keeper!

I did a jigsaw puzzle with a friend not too long ago (I forgot how much I loved them) we did it on a card table and that worked ok, just had to keep throwing the cat off.  The when it was done we put it on a piece of styrofoam and put it up on a shelf.  2 days later my cat knocked it on the ground....so that part didn't work so well, but the card table did alright.

Jigsaw puzzles!!!  I LOVE them.  When I was younger, my dad helped me frame some of the really cool puzzles.  I'm addicted, and so glad that my new house has a neat setup for puzzles.  There's a closet in the family room that has a counter top (with storage underneath), and it's the perfect size for your average jigsaw puzzle.  The best part is that the puzzle will be safe, because I can just close the doors when I'm not working on it.

Has anyone ever tried the mosaic jigsaw puzzles?  Those are really awesome, and they seem harder than most regular puzzles.

hmmm, never tried the mosaic ones. never actually heard of it. are they just squares? is that what it means?

well i am planning on moving soon. depeding on the new apartment set up, i might consider just getting a table for puzzles... i miss it so much!!!

i'm usually the one that does the jigsaw puzzle, then i admire it for like 10 min and then distroy it and put it back in the box. hahaha...

Yep, that's me too.  My friend on the other hand coats them with some kinda clear glue so they stay together and then she puts them on her walls.  To each their own I guess....

And that would be me, I can't bear to destroy them after I'm done.

A link to a Disney photomosaic puzzle is here.  Photomosaic puzzles have pieces made up tiny little pictures, instead of a snippet of the giant picture.  They're really challenging, because instead of looking for a blue piece with some tree in the corner, you're looking for a small picture of a seal.  And most of them use similar shots of a particular animal or character, so it makes it doubly hard.  Addicting!
