My leather slip lead was at the beach, today, and it did fine. Of course, my dog is quite small, and rarely pulls. If she were bigger, things might be different.

I'm interested in the biothane material, now....

I don't understand the popularity of leather- ever tried to hang onto a slippery wet leather rein? plus it just doesn't stand up to weather and I always seem to end up getting rained on.

I don't know I just bought a ton of leather stuff b/c the price was right and so far I like how it feels and SchH people all use leather supplies.  Our SchH trainer (police K9 trainer) showed us his favorite leather tracking lead that JUST broke, he said it's over 25 years old.  It was thinner than other tracking lines I've seen too.  I think it depends on the quality of the leather and if you use it right (like not tying knots in it).  He gave us links to his favorite leather suppliers.  So far I like my new leather lead more than any other material I've tried.  I don't ride horses though so I don't ever need to hang on tight.
