Shaking head....

    Shaking head....

Simba this past couple of weeks has been shaking his head constantly, you know the way dogs do when that are wet.

Everytime he stands up or walks around he shakes like he has something in his ears that he wants out, and also i notice that when he sits and looks at me his right ear seems to be further down his head like he is forcing it like that, he looks lop sided.

Its weird do you think it could be ear infection, I have checked his ears and they are clean, can see dirt deep down but cant get to that.

I know dogs shake but this seems excessive, any ideas????

    Thanks

Propably some type of infection or irritation.  Time to go to the vet.

Don't make the mistake of thinking all ear infections "show" -- they do not.  It can be a deep bacterial infection that needs antibiotics.   Don't let it go longer -- it could even be an irritant in there (like a foxtail or something), but my bet is that it is a deep infection.  Have the vet do a culture and sensitivity if he's not sure what bacteria it is -- it's a $90 test but it can save months of agony later.

Thanks guys, looks like we need to take another trip to the vet then! [:(]

Hey do you think it could be related to the chewing problem I posted about on the behaviour thread? His chewing has gotten worse since the head shaking.

Yep.  I agree.  A trip to the vet is in order.  Probably something wrong with his ears.  Probably nothing major but something that needs the attention of your vet.  Good luck.

It could also be a tick or ear mites deep down. I'd get to the vet asap...sounds like whatever it is it is too deep for you to see it, but it's something that needs attention. Good luck!
