Dream job

i think, i'd also want to be a stay at home mom. i want to have kids more than i am interested in a career. and i'd do volunteer work when i have the time for it (kids in school).

but i do LOVE my current job as an interior designer. competitive, creative AND technical. it's perfect for me!

Being an ecological consultant is pretty darn close to my dream job. I get to swan around in the bush, looking for wild animals, getting a feel for the place, thinking about what might live there. Only problem is the lack of field work I keep experiencing! It's awesome when I get out there, but not so hot in the office.

At the moment, I'm wondering where I will go. I would love to do environmental enrichment for zoo animals, but secretly I just want my own educational viverrid managerie where I can take my viverrids around and show people what awesome critters they are.

I know how hard it is to make wild animals happy, though! In some ways I think I make them happiest in my current job... when I let them go! No, I love my job, but I think I'd like to move more in the direction of recovery and management plans. That way I'd get to spend more time in the field and more travelling to fantastic habitat.

That or be a wildlife holiday tour guide.

Can I second the stay at home mom, dream?  We already know that DH will be the stay at home parent, when we decide to have kids.  It's a much better decision, financially, to have him stay at home, & me work.

Amanda, that's exactly our situation and it works out great.  My dream job is a stay at home mom.

Amanda, that's exactly our situation and it works out great.  My dream job is a stay at home mom.

This is what we decided, until I encouraged DH to go back to school and get a second degree (the one he really wanted in the first place).  Now I think I can be a stay-at-home mom after all, if that's what I want!  I never thought I'd want that, but the things I really love doing aren't things you make into a career, so staying at home would give me time to pursue that on the side and continue volunteering.  My career-type jobs pay better in the long run, but DH will have no trouble finding a job (he's a man with a special education/K-5th el ed degree, lol.  Everyone says b/c he's a guy and he LOVES working with autistic children there are so many schools that will want him.  It's kinda funny and cute to see a 6'4" 240lb man teaching the mild cognitively impaired kindergarten).  Me, I'm just a little fish in a big ocean - there are millions of people with my same level of education and experience so actually finding a decent job is purely luck.

 i'd love to be an independently wealthy playboy and world traveller. havent found out where to apply for that yet though. the unemployment office was no help at all.

 I want to be someone who has enough passive income to do whatever they want and not have to work.  I'll still work, but it will be what *I* want to do at the time, life without some type of work is boring.  However, if I want, my job can be gardener, horse trainer, dog trainer, or pilot in training, depending on what I feel like at the time.  Oh, and I want to be a stay at home wife. Then after a few years, a stay at home mom.  But not too soon on the kid thing, I love kids, but only for three hours every week.

I like my job now...I'm a dog walker working for myself. But, I would LOVE to open my own business someday. That's my real dream. I would like to open a small grooming/boarding/daycare/training facility that also sells high quality leashes/collars/toys/food/treats. In the fall I will hopefully starting school in Boston to become a "canine cosmotologist" (groomer).

Ooooo, wanna move to Florida? Maybe we could convince my boss now (I'm a pet sitter!) to branch out and have a facility. We could do it ALL...in-home pet sitting, boarding, daycare, grooming, retail... *eyes twinkle*
