What Happened to Plain Old Manners ????

When we were doing the RV dogshow stuff, there'd be 4 or 5 of us and we'd all bring something to eat, share, sit out and tell tall tales.  I think we'd plan who was bringing meat, or if it was bring your own.  Lots of fun.  Personally, I'd love to go to a party where I had to bring a bottle of wine, an appie and a dessert.  No main course, just apppies, dessert and alcohol.  Sounds like a blast!  I think wine tasting parties sound like a lot of fun.  Be fun to pick a country or area and see what happens.  Say, Italian wines and pasta, or shiraz from anywhere, or local wines, or South African.  Hey!  If you come out this way, we'll do an African party with African wines to honor our African dogs.  O'kay?  (Have no idea what kind of food something African?  what would that be?)

I am not either, but there must be some great fun things we could try !!  Heck if only to rename local foods ...I guess I have kept going because I do remember the parties and stories, I loved decorating with ribbons won and made into a chain that wrapped aorund our awning many times. Fairy lights and and fun decorations.... silly , silly things that made wining or losing just a small part of the day  because you were with friends and  creating adventures.  I had a packet of snapshots from nearly 14 years ago.  My girl as a mere pup playing with Wolfhounds long gone. My Stud dog at 3 months with a border terrier that I have long loved and cherished. I guess growing older is rough on all of us. Friends can forget manners and come to believe that time will excuse all digressions .  It is as painful to watch them age as it must be for them to feel the aches and pains that I and the Hubs do.  Not an excuse just trying to understand and take the personal sting out of it.

Thank you to ALL of you who have offered words of comfort and support. I am actually embarassed that I vented to start with.  In the long run of things it should never have been so upsetting I guess,

I will continue to post where we will be showing in the future and want all of you to know  I would LOVE to have you come and spend time.  After my vent I would not blame anyone for not wanting to Embarrassed.   We will be at the Jackson Tn show this upcoming weekend.  No real points just a single available and a chance to work with the boy.  If you are in the area and would like to see the show from the exhibitor's view point or if you are entered and would like to stop by for a drink and a chance to sit and have fun please feel free.

Well, there's Moroccan, but that's pretty far removed from either of our dogs.  But I'm pretty sure I don't want to eat what the native basenji owners eat.  (Let's just not go there.)  I'm sure the Boers ate something more similiar to Europeans.

Oh my, this website says the Moroccan meal may be as much as 50 courses!  Surprise  And of course, kebabs and couscous (mmmmm . . .)

At the last agility show I was at, someone offered one of my basenjis some cooked Oryx liver.  Talk about biologially appropriate food!

I know how hard it is to break ties with people who used to be friends but have changed - I did that with a friend from high school when I went to college and it was difficult, but in the end I'm a much happier person for getting rid of that exposure to negativity.  By letting that friendship fade I opened myself up to several much more healthy and enjoyable ones.

Some people are friends for months, some years, and some for a lifetime and each has their purpose, but you can't make all friendships last lifelong if that's not what they were meant for.
