    Recalling the growth spurt (Pofi_P)

A post on another board dedicated to Lurchers reminded me of how rapidly Pofi grew when he was a puppy.  I recently scanned these two photos taken at a pet supply store - the one on the left was taken at the end of November or first week of December 2004 (roughly 10 to 11 weeks of age) and the one on the right was taken on Feb 13 the following year as part of puppy class graduation......

I think the comparison speaks for itself!

Wow, that doesn't even seem possible - only two month's time?!

Probably about 10 weeks time - I know for sure the date of the 2nd picture (graduation certificate) and I recall on the first one that I had missed the "Pose your Pet with Santa" fundraiser which is the 3rd and 4th weekend of November.  So it really should have been about Dec 1 or so.

He grew at a simply astonishing rate - I've never had a puppy before nor spent much time around a larger breed as it grew, but the way he seemed to be taller every morning when he came out of his crate was shocking to me!

That's amazing!  And it's even funnier since the poses in the pictures are almost identical.

When Tonka was a puppy, he doubled his weight every month for about 3 months.  At 8 weeks he was 18 pounds, at 3 months he was 35 pounds, at 4 months he was 70 pounds.  He continued to grow, but at a slower rate, until he reached about 125 pounds.  Our neighbors used to stop us as we walked by their house and say things like: "Is that the same dog that you walked yesterday?  Is he on steroids?  What are you feeding him?"  etc.  I was only able to pick him up for cuddling for a couple months, then I couldn't lift him!  I also remember when he seemed to be all legs - kind of gangly, before he filled out.

I think Pofi has the greatest ears!!

((SQUEEEEL)) OMG That first picture, Pofi-Puppy is just SO ADORABLE. I want to eat him.  The second one is of course great, too... I always love the "lap dog" look. But Pofi-Puppy makes me melt!
