hahaha....my husband years ago used to refer to me sometimes to his friends has his old lady.  Needless to say I am 6 years younger than him and NOT his old lady.  Just b/c his friends refer to their wives as that does not make it ok to call me that!  These particular people where not of much calibur of people to begin with.  He paid the price and learned pretty fast that he won't get far with me calling me that.

An elderly friend of my mom once asked one of my brothers (very little at the time) what his name was.  She asked 3 times because she was having trouble hearing him.

My brother answered politely, but softly, the first two times, but not understanding hearing loss, he got upset at being asked the 3rd time.  He did answer loudly that time, but followed with "you big baboon!"

My mother was mortified, but the woman had a sense of humor! 

I do think I prefer "old lady" to "big baboon".    LOL
