I'm leaving for CA on Friday and checking out the stupid ways that Continental is going to ruin my trip that I'm already paying too much for!
Using the increased cost of gas as their excuse, they are now charging for luggage that is overweight and are limiting passengers traveling within the US to one checked bag. But here's the really stupid thing that proves to me that it is so NOT about the cost of gasoline but rather about them capitalizing and taking advantage of consumers!
If your first suitcase exceeds 50 lbs. but weighs less than 70 lbs, the fee is $50.
BUT if you choose to check a 2nd bag, which can weigh up to 50 lbs., the fee is $25!
So I can add 50 lbs to the cargo of the plane for just $25, but poor Joe Schmoe who overpacks to the tune of a few pounds is going to pay $50.
And they're limiting carry ons to 40 lbs, but I don't know how new that one is. I'm willing to bet they're weighing them now though where they haven't in the past!
Can't wait until I try to check in! Online reservations wouldn't let me choose my seats and I hear the only seat they're NOT charging extra for are the middle seats.
OH JOY!
You just wait and see how much my "purse" is gonna weigh! There's no stated limit on that! LOL!
Oh! And the personal air purification devices that help protect you from the idiot passengers traveling with drug resistant tuberculosis? yeah, those are prohibited as well.
Gah, when are they going to perfect that d@mn teleportation thing?!?!?! LOL!
