In Search of the Pefect Song

    RING RING RING

    Me: Hello

Son: Oh, hi Mom. We are on our way the meet with the Disc Jockey. What song do you want for our mother & son dance at the wedding?

Me: You need to know right now?

    Son: Pretty much!

So I have today to find that perfect song. I am considering Don't know Much by Linda Ronstadt but thought I'd throw it out for suggestions. Anyone?

I have always thought "I Hope You Dance" by LeAnn Womack is an incredible song from a mother to a child and it would fit for a wedding I think.  I wrote it in the back of Shannon's baby book.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
    But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance
    I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
    Living might mean taking chances
    But they're worth taking
    Lovin' might be a mistake
    But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
    Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
    Reconsider
    Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
    I hope you dance
    (Rolling us along)
    I hope you dance
    (Tell me who)
    I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
    (Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    Dance
    I hope you dance
    I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
    I hope you dance
    (Rolling us along)
    I hope you dance
    (Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
    I hope you dance
    (Where those years have gone)

    (Tell me who)
    I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
    (Where those years have gone)

The DJ service we are using has some suggestions for specific dances.  I personally don't care for very many of them, but i am particular about music.  I cant seem to copy and paste the list here so if you are still in need of a song, then contact me and I will get it to you.

i feel ya.. we are having  different types of "parent dances"... the first one will be my dad and I ALONG with the groom and his mom and the second one will be my stepdad and I along with the groom and his aunt.  i have asked everyone if they have a song preference, but none of them do.  I know one of them will be the old crooners classic "Young at Heart", but I don't know about the other yet.  That is the ONLY song in our entire wedding that I cant decide on so I am not much help I am afraid!

Thanks everyone. They are going to have 2 'parent' dances. One will be my son and I and the other the bride and her father.  I am working on is a couple of slide shows to play during the dance of the bride and groom growing up. The one for my son I have set to The Circle Game (joni mitchel). I'm still waffling between that and I Don't know Much. I'll see if I can post a sample for your opinions.
