While looking up some things regarding the cloneing of dogs I ran into a few other wierd and interesting news points. Some were so funny or strange that I just have to share them.
The Handy Man Husband:
"Officials investigating the shooting death of Patsy Long, 34, in Deepwater, Mo., said that her husband fired the fatal shot while trying to install a satellite TV system in the bedroom of their home. After several unsuccessful attempts to punch a hole through the exterior wall with various tools, Ronald Long used a .22-caliber handgun to fire two shots at the wall. The second hit his wife, who was in another room. "
Who Needs Firearms!
"When Joe Scola, a restaurant owner in Gloucester, Mass., saw a man running away with an armload of meat from the restaurant's freezer, he ran after him. After catching up with him and starting to take back the meat, Scola said the thief raised a 5-pound log of frozen prosciutto above his head as if to use it as a weapon. The restaurant owner had a frozen ham in his hand and hit the man in face with it. Stunned, the thief dropped the rest of the meat and fled. "
I can think of many interesting things to use this technology for:
"After Welsh authorities prosecuted Thelma Dennis, 50, 60 times in 24 years for making bogus emergency calls, she agreed to have electrodes taped to her fingers that left her screaming in pain every time she dialed the third "9" of the 999 emergency number. Even this deterrent failed, Cardiff Crown Court heard, after she was charged with calling police claiming that a bomb had been planted in a local supermarket. "
He loves me......He loves me not......
South Koreans can buy a high-tech mobile phone device that secretly checks the passion in the voice of a lover. The "Love Detector" service from mobile operator KTF uses technology that analyzes voice patterns to see if a lover is speaking honestly and with affection. "We created this service because we thought people would want to know what others were feeling about them," KTF official Ahn Hee-jung said. The service costs subscribers a flat fee of 1,500 won ($1.59) a month for unlimited use or 300 won for each call.
Want Implants? Can"t Afford?
Jay Moore started a Web site (myfreeimplants.com) where women who want breast implants post their photos, and male donors can contribute to the cause. They correspond through anonymous messages. Since 2005, the site has helped 2,500 young women raise more than a quarter of a million dollars. None of the money has gone to any of the founders, Moore told the Chicago Sun-Times. "We're donors just like the other male members. We work full-time jobs and do this as a public service."
