N. Texas I-doggers.

    N. Texas I-doggers.

Just call me a mother hen. Considering the number of i-doggers living in N. Texas and a significant number living in and arond Tarrant and Dallas counties, I just wanted to make sure yiu guy are okay. We had a rough round of storms though my county, for a change, got the light end of everything. But I could see on tv there was a big, nasty one running along I-20. That one actually did throw down a tornado in Aledo.

Some people might think we're a little silly for checking up on each other. But statistically, between Dallas and Oklahoma a City And as far west as Pampa and as far east as Dallas is where more than 90 percent of the world's tornados happen. These storms regularly produce baseball-sized hail. Regular winds associate with the storms can top 100 mph, let alone ascending rotary columns of air. Last week, we had a storm that had a hopsotch tornado that ran from west of Ft. Worth until it crossed the Red River in my county, travelling at least 150 miles as a tornadic messocylcone.

But last night, Ft. Worth and Dallas got hammered.

We're good Ron, we had sirens on at about 9pm but they shut them off and she rolled thru without some of the truly HELLACIOUS hail they were getting in Mansfield with is truly mere a few miles south of us.

Thanks for checking on us...hopefully the others will check in soon. The hail seemed to really slam some areas. the pics on Fox 4 were amazing!

LOOK at this hail (not mine, from Fox 4)! Did you see that car dealership that got smacked?

I think the storms are coming around us in southeast texas too...

I had to pull over on the side of the road on the way to work this morning... yuck!

I am in Atlanta right now and saw the storms in DFW on the Atlanta news this morning.  That made me worry a little that it made it onto the Atlanta local news.  I hope my house and everything around it is OK....we are fine though...

Fine here. (near Stephenville). We got pea/marble sized hail and the worst was our cable/internet went out. (the sattelite dish is still out)  LOTS of wind too.

I'm good.  Was a little concerned as I live in a typical tornado path (is there such thing?) right down I-30.  That and the fact that I'm in a third floor apartment with only one connecting wall neighbor.  We got lots of wind, rain and very small hail that freaked Joey out, which storms don't usually bother him.  Everything came and went very quickly though.

Now my boyfriend in Decatur...  I told him to put on his ruby slippers but I think his parents' place faired just fine.

Yikes, hadn't heard about the storms. That hail is scarrrry! Glad you guys are okay!

Scrubs - not to go too far OT, but Decatur, IL? If so, I have a ton of family back there!

Hehe, that's funny Cita.  No, he's in Decatur TX at the moment.  I can't say I'm pleased he lives out there (it's about an hour away from me) but I certainly wouldn't put up with that kind of long distance!  He's moving closer very soon.

For those who don't know, Decatur, Tx. is north of Ft. Worth on Hwy 287 about 20 miles.

I live close to the center of Grayson County, north of Collin County. There was a severe storm in Cooke County, directly to our west. But by the time it crossed the county line, it had downgraded to just a regular storm. We had heavy rain and penny-sized hail for about 2 minutes and it wasn't much. Some thunder and lightning. When that storm was in Cooke County and throwing down bigger hail, I was halfway tempted to drive north, to avoid hail damage on my precious car. But I just sat tight and watched the weather. And the little bitty hail that we did get didn't hurt my g-ride. I call it a g-ride because it has a kickin' stereo in it.

    ETA:

Yes, I saw the news about that one car dealership that got hammered. And some of the towns west of Ft. Worth had so much hail on the ground that it looked like snow.

Well, we only have another month and half to go. June 1st is the official end of tornado season in our area. That doesn't mean they can't happen at other times. It's just that they normally happen between March 15 and June 1.
