Today is like christmas at my house. I have ordered a bunch of different dog show related things the past week or so, and it has all shower up today! What fun. Now I want work to be over so I can play!

When did you have the surgery done? If it's been a few days, you've probably either got a dry socket (very common) or possibly an infection. If you're in a lot of pain, I'd call the office back and tell them you need to be seen today and if they can't get you in, ask them to refer you to someone else. When I worked as a dental asst, we always fit in post-op patients who were in pain. That pain can be horrible and if it's really bad, even Vicodin won't help.

I had it done on Friday.  I'm hoping it's not a dry socket...most of the pain is coming from the long line of stitches along the bottom of my jaw on the inside.  It sounds crazy, but my body really rejects anything unnatural, and I'm worried that it might be trying to get rid of the stitches.  It was always a good thing when I had splinters...my body would push it right back out in a day.  But this feels terrible...quite deep-seated in the jaw bone and fairly excruciating.  I'm trying to be big and tough about the pain, but it's just so...prominent.  Grr!

I appreciate everyone listening to me grumble and complain...sometimes you feel better if you vent your problem to good listeners!

And on a BIG plus side, my boss called to let me know that I got a raise on my yearly review, and it goes into effect this week!  What good timing, especially with a house purchase coming up!

Usually there's less chance of a dry socket if they stitch the site closed, but the pain you describe really sounds like one. The good news is that if it is, they will irrigate and pack it and you'll feel almost instant relief. If it's not that though, I hope it just gets better on it's own. I ended up getting a dry socket and a serious infection when I had mine out. They cultured it and it was strep, so they think I had strep when I had the surgery and it entered the extraction site. I had it done on a Thurs and was fine until Sun. AM. They had to put a drain in the floor of my mouth Crying. I'd seriously not felt pain that bad in my entire life and *knocks on wood* haven't since.

Congrats on the pay raise. I'm sure that helps ease some of the pain Big Smile

I accidentally took too much of my medication this afternoon and now I am seriously stoned.  Don't anybody worry, I took 4 tablets instead of 3 and I am actually SUPPOSED to take 4 at a time, but they knock me for six so I only take 4 before bedtime and sleep through this feeling.  Ugh.

DH is in Ben's bed, squeaking Ben's Tuffies octopus, it's driving him bonkers.
