    Anyone Belly Dance?

I have ALWAYS wanted to learn. I saw a show on FIT TV called "Shimmy". It's instructional Belly Dancing and I started dancing along and it was pretty cool. So I just ordered a DVD.

Anyone else belly dance? Big Smile

Actually about 25 years ago I did -- I took it at my local "Y" and shed a lot of inches.  I developed a huge liking for MIddle Eastern music and food.  It is a LOT of fun -- it really broadened my appreciation for their music -- a lot of their music is really complicated beat.  It sure beat regular exercise, but it taught me a LOT about gracie and 'control' generally despite all my arthritis.  I'm not able to do a lot of 'sports because of it, but belly dancing was most definintely 'low impact'.  And FUN.

    Episode 2

    LOL...scaredy cat!

I love the Belly Dancing troupe that does Scarborough Faire here....they parade thru the Faire, to drum up interest in their performances and do that ululating cry all together as a pack....and shake their hips at the menfolk...it's QUITE a spectacle!

Dont know how I missed this one!   I started Belly Dance classes in January with a young lady from Brazil that now lives in our area.  She is awesome, the class is affordable and I love it!   I cant say that I am ready to be in public but my back, hips, arms and legs are starting to firm up quite a bit.  I am 51 and have always wanted to do this.   I havent lost weight per say but can tell the flab is firming...lol.  I highly recommed it.  I have Fibromyalgia and I have noticed less pain on those flare up days.   Not that it hasnt hurt some but flares seem to be further apart and more weather related... love it love it love it!

Shadowsgin, thanks for your response! I will be 51 this year (shh... Don't tell anyone Wink ) and I could use some firming up in those areas. (Keep that to yourself, too!) Big Smile My DVD arrives today! I'm pretty excited about it!
