Yes, I am eee-veeeil (like the fru-its of the deveeeil)
But I just had to share this little story...
Some of the kids in my neighborhood think everyone's yards are their playgrounds. Most are cool about staying in the street, their own yards, whatever, but some of them (and I swear I don't know where these ones come from....not my street anyway), just assume they can play wherever they want. I don't think it's unreasonable for me, who doesn't have any kids yet, to want other kids to not play on my property. Chasing a ball that accidentally rolls into my yard is one thing, but just hanging out in my front yard? Uncool. Not only are they are always leaving candy wrappers, soda cans, other trash in my yard, but for goodness' sake, if one of them got hurt on my property and had some uber-litigious parents...ugh, I don't even want to wonder what kind of hassle that would turn into.
But, on the other hand, I don't want to be THAT neighbor who yells at kids and ends up with a yard full of TP. So, yesterday evening I'm in the living room playing with Harry, and I catch a view through the sidelight by the front door of FIVE kids just chillin' in my front yard! So, I thought, hmmm...how do I handle this? So, I cracked the front door open a little and popped my head out and said, "Hey, guys, do you think you could go play in your own yard? I don't want my dog to get freaked out." At that exact moment Harry popped his head between my legs and let out two really loud barks. The kids scattered!! His timing was perfect! What a good boy!!! Hee hee hee!! BTW-Harry wouldn't have freaked out at all, it was my excuse to politely ask them to take a hike, but he played it perfectly for me. I'm so proud!
