TSA Officials Stop Suspect with Dangerous Nipple Rings

After all there could have been explosives in there!!!

This is absurd, what next, slice open your breasts and remove your implants? I guess I now have reason to be thankful I do not have any implants!

And what about the naval ring? I mean they let her go on the plane with that on!

This story actually made me angry.

It was either they were just being disguistingly inappropriate, for no reason. Or it was "discrimination" because she had the piercings. (which aggrevates me even more as I love piercings.) They definitely owe her an apology. There were other options.

To clarify, I was attempting sarcasm in my choice of title for this thread. I think this is unacceptable. IMO they owe her more than an apology.

Discriminating against body piercings in Los Angeles??  No way

Hey, I think they are heroes, you could put an eye out with those things!!!!

     Stick out tongue

It's absolutely outrageous and I think the TSA will be ponying up some serious $$$ this woman should definitely sue.  It's like the woman they made drink breast milk.  Put a little power into the hands of idiots and it's prone to abuses.  I've seen them pull out a clearly fragile disabled weak old woman in a custom wheelchair and forced her to stand without assistance so they could frisk her.  While I understand the need to examine the powerized wheelchair, they offered this poor woman no assistance in standing, you could see that she was terrified of falling, visibly shaking (I was at least 15 feet away and could see through a gap in the partition they had her behind) and her husband was nearly in tears because he was forced to wait outside while they worked her over.  I was enraged but knew if I said anything, the gestapo TSA would pull me from my flight.  I say a little prayer daily that there is never a bra bomber or the line at the security checkpoint will be a frightening sight!  LOL!

She wasn't in LA. She was on a flight from Lubbock to Dallas.

I missed that -- I saw "Los Angeles" at the start of the story and assumed that was where it happened.

I must be missing something else, because it says she went through the large metal detector without problems.  Why did they stop her at all?

I have to wonder what would happen if someone wore a ring large enough to set the beepers off but their finger was swollen and the ring wouldn't come off.  Would they bring in someone to saw it off?  Would they amputate the finger?

I think they would hand you a hacksaw and make you cut your own finger off. Either that or not fly.

Here's one for ya. I remember it so well because it smacks of mindless beauracracy.

After 9-11, we had national guardsmen guarding the airports. The standard duty rotation was 6 weeks on, and a few weeks back at home. A soldier had finished his 6 weeks and was flying home. He was in uniform, with rifle, ammo belt, 10 inch arm issue knife, etc. He put those things on the belt. He pulled out his wallet, watch, ring, keys, which included a pin knife for opening mail. He walked through. And they confiscated the pin knife as a prohibited weapon. And gave him back the gun, ammo, 10 inch knife, etc.

My friend, Tom, flies to visit family once in a while. He will wear shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops and that's it. And they wand him every time. Because he had a beard and moustache and they must have thought he was middle eastern. He doesn't look middle eastern. He is of english descent and is from Tennesee. And he doesn't have piercings of any kind.

My best friend made a good point while we were chatting tonight, are they going to start making men take out their Prince Alberts?  Nobody wants to see THAT!  Ick!

That would be funny, though. And my friend has offered to security that he would be willing to fly naked. By that time, they turn off the wand and let him through.

I don't even want to think about the prince albert. Indifferent This lady will probably sue tsa and win, and then our tax money will foot the bill for a couple of idiot employees.

The most disturbing thing I ever saw in one of the security lines was this poor old lady in a wheel chair. She couldn't walk, so obviously the wheel chair set off the alarm. Then the idiot kept trying to wand her down while she was still in the wheel chair and obviously it kept going off. They actually started patting her down in front of everyone in line, and they were lifting up her skirt too. The poor old lady was crying she was so humiliated. I was mortified to watch it, but its not like I could do anything without subjecting myself to more searching too. I felt so bad for her.

And that's how it begins...... scary and reminds me of a certain European country many years ago.
