What a terrible shame -- the older I get the more of a 'proactive' person I am ... our dogs are NEVER 'loose' -- unless it's our contained/fenced back yard (that none of them can get over) -- but man, loose near a driveway? The odds are tiny, but the older I get the more my theory has become **prevent** it.
That's no 'slap' to your friend -- **accidents** happen -- it's just so terribly sad because I'm sure they never even thought something like that could happen. All my sympathies to her -- and hopefully someone lurking and seeing this will decide "hmm, that *could* happen -- I'm never going to do that again!!" so at least something positive can come of such a sad, sad thing.
You're a good friend to want to comfort her! (good thots and prayers for Katiegirls friend as well as katiegirl so she can be supportive).
