I've never used an actual 2-dog leash but I have use a coupler (short piece that connects to ONE leash and then fastens to two dogs).
A coupler is fine for 2 equal-sized dogs who get along in very close quarters and walk paired nicely.
But as far as a 2-dog leash *grin* I have a couple of solutions. David and I tend to like to put different colors on each dog simply because it can be too confusing when you're trying to pass them off one to another to figure out if Billy is connected to which leash, but his collar is RED so handing the BLACK leash to David gets Luna to him while I keep the RED one in my hands! (LOL -- is this old age or what???).
HOWEVER, I make a 2 (or 3) dog 'leash' out of three easily. I like the leashes that have the plastic clips on the handle (so you can open the 'handle' of the leash and either tie it around a pole, door handle or whatever - or you can slide the clip way down so you can actually clip it around your waist and be hands free in a heartbeat).
There's this guy named Ryan that I found on E-bay of all things (I almost never buy anything on E-bay but Top'Paws quit making these leashes and Ryan sells them for WAY less than they were at PetSmart) - nice nylon leashes and durable.
BUT in order to make a '2-dog leash' out of them all you have to do is fasten one of the handles to the other. If you don't find what you want holler at me and I'll give you Ryan's email/website.
I've never used an actual 2 dog leash - I know they make them, but I tend to want things more flexible and mine could knot up anything if you stop for 3 seconds. They both walk nicely on leash but their size difference is just enough (and the nose-driven bagle vs. the friendly cocker? fuhgetaboutit!! LOL)
