Dog sitting how much to charge

I am going to dog sit my mom's friend's dog. Its a female german shepherd her name is Samantha, she is 3 months old and is half way through potty training. I will be taking care of her from Friday till Monday I believe. She asked me how much I will charge her but I didn't know what to tell her. How much is a reasonable price? I was thinking of doing $5 a day? She will be staying in my house.

Well your not insured so I wouldn't charge too much, but IMO $5 a day is way too little, especially for a puppy. I would say to charge anywhere from $15-$20 per day....

Maybe I can do $10 a day because she is a really good friend of the family.

$10 a day is perfectly reasonable. That's what I got paid as a dog sitter in middle school and high school - walks once a day, potty breaks and meals twice a day, pooper scooping the family's back yard, and a couple of hours overall of general "attention." (playing, petting, etc. above and beyond the walk.) Also bringing in the mail, and occasionally doing some basic plant watering.

I think you are asking way too low :) For a dog sitter to come stay in your house overnite in my area it's 65-80 dollars and an hour and a half walk alone is 15-20 dollars/day. It's always better to shoot higher IMO, maybe ask for 20-25 dollars/day? Even that seems low :)

When I used to dogsit (probably 7 years ago), I would stay at the peoples house and I made $50 a night.  Some places had one dog, others had a dog and some birds.  To be honest if I were doing it for CLOSE family friends, I probably wouldnt ask for anything and if they gave me something, I would just accept whatever it was.  But I am a big believer in doing favors and not basing everything on money.  Do what you feel comfortable with and do what you would want someone to do to you if the situation were reversed.

When I used a high school girl to dogsit, she charged me $12 a day, when I had only one dog. I'd suggest $10 - $15 a day.

I pay $35/day to have my dog stay at my friends home, who is a licensed dog walker. On top of that I supply the food and always bring him a case of beer.

I will tell her that its nothing but if she wants to pay me I can just tell her a right amount. I don't want to over charge her. I will post pictures of Samy I think you guys will like her.
