    Bo's encounter with a cat

A couple of days ago while we were out in the yard there was a neighbor cat prowling around. Bo isn't really prey driven but he was curious and he went up and tried to sniff it. The cat batted at him and Bo backed up so I thought there was no more problems there. Yesterday, Bo's face started to swell up and by this morning it was completely swollen up around his eyes, across the top of his head and around his ears. We went to the vet this morning and he has cellulitis. He has to have an injection of antibiotics and has to do a round of chewable antibiotics. The vet found a small puncture wound were the cat apparently got him with a claw. He said that cat scratches are the most common causes of infection in dogs. I feel so bad for him. He looks so miserable.

Cat bites are very prone to infection...in people too. A friend of mine also got cellulitis...in her arm though, not her face. Poor Bo. That looks awful. Cat bites to one another are bad also and often end up with abscesses.
