poor boomers little mind has been confused because of my sisters dog lol hes so used to being snarled at and chased away that his first day of puppy class he was afraid of the dogs but after a few min he was okay and stopped hiding by the end of class he had made best friends with a mastiff who is by the way 4 times his size lol
anyways the class was alright the trainer knew some stuff but sadly i felt i out shined her and i didnt mean to. one couple had this small mixed breed who was very hyper and nipped a lot as well as refused to walk on leash. the teacher asked if they had tried making a loud sharp sound when the dog would bite and they said yes and it didnt work then she asked a few more questions like have you tried anything gross on your hand etc. and they said yes and that it didnt work. then while the teacher was sitting there thinking about what they could do i said i had a dog that acted the same way and what i found worked is pet the dog when its calm and if it gets to exsited get up and turn away till the dog calms down then turn around and give it affection again, repeat etc.
anyways most of the pups in are class were about 3 mounths old so we skipped the name game and everyones puppies new sit already pretty much so we covered loose leash walking and "easy" or "gental" teaching the dogs not to nip or bite your hand when giving food. as well as stay,
so that concludes class wish i could give lots of details but i have such a bad headache and even got sick befor class but i didnt want to miss my first day of class so i toughed it out. ill update you on next tue. class which will be the 25th
