Travelling vets?

    Travelling vets?

I went to the vet today with Dakota and they had a traveling vet there to replace a vet that was on vacation. Is this what traveling vets do, go from clinic to clinic and fill in? Or do they make house calls as well? I really liked this lady as she actually knew about dog/cat nutrition! The last vet I saw at my clinic had never heard of Canidae (sigh). I want to stick with this person if I can.....we had a good discussion about nutritional requirements for Dakota and she really knew her stuff.

My girlfriend Kim is a Home Vet (as I have told you) She does now have her own clinic but she started going to peoples houses to care for their pets. I would suppose especially with the popularity of pets, and the owners getting more knowledgeable about health care there could be more of a demand if a vet hospital were to be short handed.

I hope you got her name and perhaps can contact her away from your clinic and ask her questions about perhaps being her client. She probably can not discuss it if she is filling in at a clinic.

I've seen them be very very GOOD and truly HORRIBLE.  Both ways -- usually, honestly, *not* good.  It depends on why they're doing what they're doing.  Get her name and number!!!  "finding" a vet you like is a big huge deal--- that's how I found my Dr. Bailey -- he used to work for a vet I used (and loved) until Doc A sold his practice.  The new guy was awful ... and I finally tracked Dr. Bailey down to go TO him.  He's never been "close" to me i area but it's worth the drive to go to someone you like.  Or worth more money to pay them for their travel time.
