This is not my morning (vent)

This is not my morning (vent)

So....last night I got another flat tire (2 in one week). My car was driving way out of alignment too. What the hell is going on?? So, it was pretty late (11:45pm) I had to have it towed to the nearest shop, no problem. The guy said he will look at it when they open (8:00am) today. He called me and said that my ball bearings were rusted and a couple were broken so I needed those replaced, that's why my car was out of alignment, and also why I was getting flat tires. I said OK, just let me know when it's done. He said probably Saturday. No problem I'll just use DF's truck since he's in NH until Friday night. Then he called me back and asked if they could send my car to their other shop (3+hours away). Sure. Whatever you have to do, just fix it. About 30mins goes by....OMG!!!! My keys for the dogs houses I walk are in my car. I've been on the phone with the company, the tow truck driver is still on the road and had to pick up 3 other cars and still isn't back to the other shop. So....I have to walk a dog in 1 hour (scheduled for 11:00am) and no keys, no one is home at their house....They mechanic said he *should* be back by noon....But by that time it's already going to be too late. I feel like crying, I've never let my clients down before.Crying I hate calling and telling them news like this (never had to before) because I'm always afraid since it sounds so comlicated they'll think I'm lying or something.

Hopefully your clients will understand. Who hasnt had car trouble? Gosh we have 3 cars sitting here that we cant drive.

    Hope your day gets better.

Hmmm.... Hi ________ (insert name here), This is _______(insert your name) I'm sorry to be calling,  but I had some car troubles yesterday and long story short, the mechanics shipped my car off to their other shop before I realized I had left all of my clients house keys in it.  Do you happen to have an extra set I could borrow for the day?  I'll take ______ (insert pets name) out for an extra half hour for free just for the extra trouble.

Keep it short, I can't imagine why they would think you were lying.  I mean why would you want 2 sets of keys to their house?

Wow, it seems like a lot of folks are having a rough week and especially related to cars lately. I hope you can get it all straightened out with the folks you work for. I'm sure they'll understand. Just a bit of advice though - you really shouldn't leave all your keys with anyone like this. There have been stories of less than reputable people at repair shops making a copy and then breaking into homes later. Just something to think about but not something more to worry about at this point. Big Smile

That really stinks, but I agree (especially if you're on good terms with them) calling up to ask to borrow a second set of keys might not be so bad. Depends on the clients, of course - some people are really weird about keys and the thought of their house keys being anywhere other than in your hand might freak them out. But if they're not particularly nervous people, it's worth a shot!

Oh, I know! I usually have my keys with me at all times in my bag....but I just forgot them in the center console....but I never put peoples names/addresses on the key tags, just the dogs name....Anways, I ended up getting someone (tow truck driver) who was headed from Hanson to Weymouth (only 20mins away) to meet me, from the same company...so I got my keys, I was a little late, but I called the 11:00 people and let them know, no problem. So, today ended up being OK.
