    Today it's for real

I posted last month about Co-Co and Mystic giving blood.  Well since that was their first time, it was more of an evaluation, they took a sample and took the dogs through what the procedure would be, but didn't take blood.  I didn't realize that was how it would be, but I think it was a good idea.  So today is their appointment to actually donate, and I'm a little nervous...

Has anyone else done this?  Does it hurt?  I don't think Mystic will care, nothing seems to phase her as long as she gets lovings (which they give TONS of) but Co-Co is a bit of a chicken.  The vet said that she would probably be ok and would get used to it, but I worry.

So wish us luck (I know it'll be ok, but yet....)

    Thanks

My guys have never donated blood.  Kudos to you, Mystic & Co-Co.  Many good vibes for a successful procedure.

*I* give blood -- the needle they use to insert into the vein for HUMANS has an anti-coagulant that stings but no clue if they do that for dogs.

Doesn't hurt -- give TONS of fluids (extra water in food, chipped ice, anything you can).  Take it EASY today.

    Thanks all!

They go in at 3.  I'll be home at 2:30 so I'll give them some ice cubes then (is that enough time?).  Mystic will be psyched, she LOVES ice cubes.  Last summer we took her to a flea market and she mooched almost an entire cooler from one lady.  Actually she didn't even have to *do* anything, she just layed in the shade under the tail gate and everytime the woman looked at her she said, "oh you need a nother piece, can't get too hot"  it was funny.
